Probably putting 2+2 and getting 5, but I tested positive a few weeks ago, and as a result of two vaccines and a booster, was thankfully relatively unaffected apart from some sneezing and a head cold.
In fact, if a grandchild hadn’t been staying, whose mum and brother tested positive, I probably wouldn’t have tested myself and would have been oblivious to the fact that I had covid.
For the past week I’ve had noticeably strong palpitations, particularly at night. Anyone else similarly affected?
(I have AF, DCM, Heart failure, liver failure, and diabetes,)

The palpitations could well be covid related. I have been relatively AF free after ablation but had AF episodes after the covid booster and then this week after testing positive for covid. Also after flu jab. Can't believe it's all a coincidence
Thanks for your response. I was just a bit disappointed that, after five years of ups and downs I finally seemed to have everything under control with medication, which has been juggled to get to where I am now.I was also delighted that, having been quite anxious about covid in the early days of the pandemic, I had contracted it but seemed to have got off lightly. I didn’t even report it.
The strong palpitations just took me back to the early days when I was considered to be really ill. Still, I’m grateful for how well I have felt and the hard work that has gone into that improvement by the health professionals.
AF is a real roller coaster isn't it? You think you're doing OK and then it comes back to bite you and you feel back to square one.I can't offer anything more but hopefully others on the forum can advise you more as they have me
Hi,I had a successful ablation for atrial flutter in October 2020. I had Covid the week before Christmas and had two episodes of tachycardia/palpitations in the following couple of weeks. I was very anxious that the ablation was failing, but my doctor was brilliant organising an ecg, blood tests and referal back to BARTs. The tests showed everything to be ok and BARTs said that they are seeing a lot of people with symptoms like this post Covid. The advice I was given was to invest in a Kardia to record any episodes. They said that some people are experiencing tachycardia for weeks/ months after the infection. I am not medically trained and every individual is different, but I hope that your body is just recovering from the virus which can hit you hard - I was fully vaccinated and had a booster/flu jabs when I got it!
Thanks a lot. I have permanent a fib so am used to a constant feeling of being aware of my heartbeat, but this is much stronger and is intermittent.Reassuring to think it may just be temporary and will wear off eventually!
Sorry to hear about recent events, it could be your body reacting to the virus that is causing these symptoms, however, they should not be ignored, Keep a diary of events and contact the GP surgery if they continue. For further details on Covid - please visit the A F Association website.
