Covid positive and terrified

Hello folks been doing OK but tested positive today for covid with mild cold symptoms since Saturday. Several years history of hard to control AF.

Tonight I have gone into fast AF again for 1st time in 10 weeks or so. So disappointed! I had ablation last July. Since then healthy lifestyle lots of walking.

I also have mild/moderate heart failure and moderately leaking mitral and tricuspid valves.

Really thought I was getting somewhere but now feel back to square one. Sorry to moan

Some easy to access supplements and other aids that I believe could reduce duration and severity of Covid are as follows. I personally would take all of these, and have. But of course do your own due diligence and make sure there are no conflicts with any heart meds you are on or other meds:

* Zinc

* Quercetin

* Vitamin C

* Vitamin D3

* Famotidine (brand name Pepcid, sold OTC as an H2 blocking antihistamnine, but has considerable ability to reduce cytokine storm in lungs with Covid)

* NAC (N-acetyl cysteine, like the Pepcid above can be useful if there is lung involvement)

* baby aspirin or nattokinase (maybe not good idea if you are already on a blood thinner)

These things are all available without prescription. That's just what I would do (and have done - I had mild Covid in September 2021). But of course do your own reading about it. And/or talk to doctor or pharmacist about possible conflicts with anything else you are on.

Good luck to you! Most people get through Covid with no serious problems or hospitalization. It's scary but in all likelihood you will get through fine.

My thoughts are with you and I hope your AF symptoms will subside once the Covid is gone. Bless you and good luck.

I had covid 2 weeks ago, did fine, just really congested sinuses, no fever. I have had 2 vaccinations and was pleased that I did well with covid. I hope all will be ok with you as well.

Hi, so sorry about that. I had COVID in October and my heart went berserk and was Blue Lighted to hospital with suspected MI and very fast AF BUT it settled down after a few days with no lasting consequences. I’m on Immunesuppressants and really didn’t expect to survive COVID as I was very sick (literally) as well as metaphorically.

Please stay positive and calm as stress is the worst for AF. Plenty of rest and keep very well hydrated. I only ever get AF these days when I have an infection and had 2 ablations and Pacemaker. Virus will cause inflammation which will trigger AF so do everything you can to reduce the inflammation and stay calm.

If you think supplements will help - use them - Kim as given some good suggestions but I found Paracetamol helped reduce inflammation.

Hope it passes very soon but don’t judge too soon whether or not AF is back for good, give it a few weeks.

Best wishes CD

Paracetamol is a two edged sword. It reduces glutathione production and this is not a good idea if you are ill. Also it's anti inflammatory properties are very low compared to aspirin.

Thankyou CDreamer. AF has now calmed down thank goodness.I agree with your point about stress as I did get in a state when my covid test was positive.

Perhaps it was a combination of that and the covid that triggered my episode.

You certainly went through it when you had covid. So glad no long lasting effects for you.

AF is just so depressing. Its like a demon lurking in the background poised to strike at any moment!

It is a monster best ignored as much as possible (in the mind anyway) as the more attention it gets them mtge bigger it grows.

So pleased it’s a bit calmer for you now.

I just got over a mild case of covid. I took supplements recommended and 4 medications 2 compounded formulas plus antibiotic and prednisone just in case. My heart only got to high rates above 100 while feverish for 1.5 days. After that, was normal the whole time. I tried not to stress about covid as that can bother the heart. Plenty of rest and fluids.

You may be a good candidate for Paxlovid given your underlying conditions and short onset of symptoms. This is an oral anti-Covid drug. Possible significant side effects if you take amioderone or properafone. Consult your doc ASAP. Best of luck, etheral

Sorry to hear of your distress. I'm with Planetary Kim. I take most of what she pshows in her post, but add a "Heart Fomula" from banyanbotanicals.com/. This has really made a difference in my afib, increased energy, able to do more and tmy heart rate is overall lower across the board. +++ on the Vitamin "D", "C" and NAC to combat covid.
