Cardiologist is putting me forward for 2nd ablation, this time with a general, he said it will be more successful. Taking powdered magnesium now so hope that helps although it seems to make me tired . Not sure how long I will have to wait for ablation but I hope it’s not long so I can get back to work. Thank you to everyone on here for the input , it really is a comfort. Any advice in anything is so welcome.
Update : Cardiologist is putting me... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Update
I do hope you don't have to wait too long. At least something is happening as apart from everything else you need to be able to resume your work
. We both had our ablations at about the same time and so far I've been ok but don't like to say too much as I'm booked in for total hip replacement in 2 weeks time 🙄 !
Best wishes
J
Thank you , good luck with your hip. I’m hoping it will all be right in the end as being 52 I’m want to work before it’s too late, not got age on my side 😂.
Good luck with the hip!
Thanks Bob! Gives me something different to think/ worry about 😀.......and surgeon wants to do knee replacement " a few months after"🙄
I'm just wincing lots and putting on weight with lack of walking.
Hi there. I am in the same position. My EP is doing my next ablation under GA as I had a complication last time and he says he will be able to keep an eye on things better under GA. Not sure how that works but I will be glad to be out of it as I wasn’t too impressed with conscious sedation! I am on a waiting list too. It will be May at the earliest I think. Good luck with yours. X
Magnesium is required for muscles to relax - which will make you tired. I can’t take oral magnesium so use Magnesium Oil but I ONLY use it at night. Also be careful taking Mag if you are on Beta Blockers as Mag can enhance the affect, or you have any kidney dysfunction.
I prefer to eat foods rich in Magnesium for my nutritional requirements. Most of us will be nutritionally deficient in Magnesium so finding an affective way of getting what you need without making you tired may be trial and error.
Hope your ablation comes around soon.
Thank you, I am apprehensive about magnesium and I didn’t know magnesium could enhance its affect, that’s one to be careful about, shall I stop with it do you think and go the food root.
Obviously up to you, many people find Magnesium very helpful, I’m always the ‘oddity’!
Do your research, keep a symptom diary and if you get the runs you will know you have taken too much!
Or try the Magnesium Oil. It’s a lot more expensive but still effective.
When I was in a quandary about Magnesium I found this site very helpful - I don’t use their oil by the way as I buy an alternative brand which suits me well from my local health shop
Hello, hope you don’t have to wait too long. My seven years with AF have consisted of a lot of waiting but help has always come. A bit different when you are working though. Anyway I was told that second ablations are often more successful as it’s a case of mopping up after the first. My second was very successful and only failed after a particularly nasty flu virus hit me (pre Covid). After that nothing worked until an AV node ablation nearly a month ago. Hope yours works for you and it comes round soon,
Snap re being on the list and general anaesthetic this time. Fingers crossed we'll get done in the Spring. NHS very overloaded at present. It's a comfort to know there's a second option though isn't it?
Hi well I'm on a list and have been since August for my first.Guess it depends where your hospital is in terms of covid.Good wishes.
