The Ablation I had on the 10 of July has certainly not been a success from my point of view, though i accept it is too early to say it has failed (The pessimist in me thinks it is a work in progress ie I will need another "go" sooner rather than later) I have been in Afib now continuously for 17 days and I am on 7.5 mg Bisoprolol a day that keeps the rate down to around 120 bpm.
The afib/QOL is worse than I have ever had before I am running on very low energy levels (Two flights of stairs and I am exhausted). My EP if I wanted to I could go to A & E, but he felt a planned procedure woud be better in these COVID times, so I am booked in for a cardio inversion on Friday morning (5 weeks after the original ablation) and I am hoping against hope that will get me back into NSR.
I will keep the updates going

I had a cardioversion about 6 weeks after my last ablation and it worked. Once you have it done, don't go doing anything that requires effort for a week or so afterwards and allow your heart to grow stronger beating in its correct manner.
That hefty Bisoprolol dose of 7.5mg may need to be reduced too if you go back into normal rhythm.
Thanks that gives me cause for optimism! I will be really careful when back in NSR if all goes well. On the Bisoprolol I am already reducing to 5mg today then 2.5 MG Tomorrow so that i dont have a silly slow heartbeat. Thanks for your support
Have been wondering what was happening with you after your last post - sorry you are so down. However, good news re cardioversion on Friday. Try to stay positive - good luck and all the very best. Let us know how you get on in due course.
You really should wait for the 3 month blanking period to finish. Your heart has been traumatized during this procedure by either freezing or burning & naturally needs time to recover. You are only a third of the way through so far!
Hi Steve. I had an ablation last December without apparent success. My EP was going to schedule a DCCV as once the scar tissue has formed and the heart has settled as he thought that would kick it into a sinus rhythm. He put me on Flecanide 50mg twice a day two weeks before to aid the heart getting into normal rhythm. Had the DCCV yesterday. Now in Sinus rhythm for the first time in over 18 months. Have to keep taking the flecanide, apixaban and 5mg bisoprolol. My best wishes are with you Steve.
Must be an awful time, sound advice from others here, I had an ablation last April went well until I went into flutter on holiday then had DCCV, sorted it and been in sinus since, so fingers crossed for you, and it's took a good year to properly recover.
Try some gentle exercise along a flat path, nothing strenuous, just to keep you ticking over and to help to improve your muscle tone. Ten minutes out and ten minutes back to slowly improve your stamina.
