Unclassified Reading from Kardia

Unclassified Reading. I see many posts saying that if your heart rate is outside the 60 -100 range, you may get that. I am a runner and my heart rate is always below 60. First, is that the reason of this reading? Second should jump a few times before starting using the device? Thanks.

Hi John, my kardia normally says tachycardia if it's over 100. I don't know about jumping before using it. I haven't heard that before. I use the 6 lead Kardia.

I used a Kardia successfully for a few years before bradycardia. However with a resting heart rate of 46 I always got an unclassified notification, I no longer use the device. However prior to this I never had to jump or do anything to activate same.

Have you updated your Kardia App. It should show Bradycardia now for heart rates less than 60, it didn't used to.

I had 4 Unclassified & 3 Bradycardia readings after feeling very faint & unwell on my way home in early December. They showed a pulse of 39-45. The next day I went to A&E where I was put in Resus & stayed in hospital for 2 nights for monitoring. The doctor changed my medication by reducing the Amiodarone to once daily & stopping Bisoprolol. He said my pulse should be higher, anything under 50 is not good. After changing the medication, my heart rate is between 65-75 & I feel much better.

It could be another arrythmia that Kardia is not designed to detect. It was invented specifically to detect AF.
