Well that is all the crimbodecs packed away up in the atic for another eleven months and I've just had the last of the turkey soup. No more Carry On films to watch so that is it till next December 1st.

Anybody know where I can get some hot crossed buns?

Happy new year to both/all of you…

Now an AFIb question (by the way I finally have a day to start reading “The AFib Cure” …) since my hospital visit with high HR 189 few weeks ago I’m tired and don’t feel as well as before. A couple nights ago my HR went to 100 following a harder than usual swim workout (normally 65-75) so I went laid down drank water and it slowly came back down.

So thinking my not feeling so well is probably due to my recent episode in ER? I remember feeling terrible for months the first time .. but thought that was due to the betas… thankfully I see cardiologist again at end of Jan .. really want alblation since I cannot handle meds.

People say I’m nuts since it only happens once in a while but I think it will happen more often now that I’m not on medication …

I’m in Canada … so guessing “carry on films” are Christmas Movies here 🙂

They are full of politicaly incorrect innuedo - always double meanings to everything. Always bring a smile to my face - worth watching if you have afib and want a laugh.

Nurse don't you know it's Matron's round? Mine's a pint! or I was once a weak man. Well once a week's enough for any man. OOOH Matron!

Carry on camping. Mrs. Fussey: Joan may think you're a gentleman but personally I've got sore misgivings. Sid Boggle: You ought to put some talcum powder on them.

Heheh - I'm done.

Noooooo! I can't let go of Christmas yet - there are 12 days of Christmas and today is only day 9! I need to sit with the lights on my tree and mantlepiece garland for a few days longer. Feel as though I've hardly been at home to enjoy them. Each to their own ideas and traditions I guess.

Ours have been up for over a month Jean with two trees in the bay by the bifold doors and we really needed to clean the house, plus the wind has all but destroyed the icicle lights outside, most of which were in the gutters. The garlands and lights over the mantle and round the mirrors were getting quite grubby too. It takes two days to put them up and take them down again as well since we have five giant crates full plus the faux trees in boxes. Just about to order a new lot for next year whilst they are on discounted sale. We do Christmas big time here.

Sounds lovely Bob. I think it's Balsam Hill that do the most realistic artificial Christmas trees. There was one at the National Trust property when I volunteered and for ages I thought it was real. Every year I say I'll get a new one and then don't! Just looked at the price of the Balsam Hill ones and now understand why I never buy a new one!

I saw them on an advert once and looked them up on line............ probably seeing the price brought on the AF.

After reading a review on how amazing their trees were I looked on their site two years ago and the prices took my breath away - I gave them a miss as well!

Here there are no superstitions / traditions about getting all the decs down by 12 th night so often you see decorations well into Jan. I don't take my tiny fibre optic tree down till the end of the month usually. The greenery from the garden I get rid of when it starts to shed needles which is usually after about 3 weeks .

I'm with you Joan. Nothing will be put away until the weekend at the earliest. I've kept my trees up for all of January in the past. I love the colour and lights at this dismal time of year. We moved Mum's tree out of her window and onto a small side table on Saturday so that she too can enjoy it for as long as she wants without feeling self-conscious. I don't care about self-conscious, people walking/driving past my cottage will be able to see my downstairs tree even though it's at the back of the room. The upstairs tree will be moved away from the window. If we have real trees we leave them until they no longer look happy. I've had real ones, cut to order at the farm and straight home into water with regular watering over the holidays, last for January too.

We have had two small growing trees in tubs outside lit since Christmas 2020 and they will continue as long as the lights still work but they only represent a small percentage of the total.

Hi Bob, like you ,it takes a couple of days to put up and then take down the decs both inside and out. We put it all up a few weeks before Christmas but once NY is over, cant wait to get them down and have a good clean up.

We're later taking them down this year. Taking the inside ones down today and outside tomorrow.

The way life is whizzing by these days, we'll be putting it all back up again before we can blink.

Happy New Year to you and everyone else.

We always leave ours up 'til after the 3rd January, as that it is my husbands birthday. They'll be coming down tomorrow though, I need to dust!

Bob I read this when you wrote it and really didn’t reply properly. My apologies for that. I think it’s wonderful that you and your wife still go all out for Christmas. Everyone I know who is nearing retirement even myself are cutting back on decorating cutting back on everything really for Christmas. I think it’s so encouraging and wonderful that some people still enjoy Christmas so much even as we age. Who says we have to cut back on enjoyment anyway? Kudos to you!

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional ! Just had delivered 29 metres of new cluster lights to go round the guttering of the bungalow to replace the broken icicle lights following the gales we had. And 1/2 price in the post Christmas sale to boot. I think we have decorated our houses for about forty years now and where we live now being on a hillside can be seen for about 2 miles on a good day when the leaves are off the trees. so we always make an effort. If I could work out how to download a photo I could post one.

That sounds wonderful! Imagine how much joy you must bring to everyone especially the children. I must admit I still do it up here quite a bit still used to be Way over doing it and it was a lot of work for me. No I say it’s for the grandchildren but it’s really for me :-)

Yes we need to remain young at heart it really helps.

Do you have an iPhone? If you do you just hit the little camera thingy below and choose your picture you want to post. It should upload it and ask you for a description.

Cheers!
