4 days post RF Ablation

I'm slowly beginning to recover from my RF Ablation, and as you can imagine the bruising covers a huge area! I also have another huge bruise on my chest - apparently they had to do two shocks to cardiovert me after the procedure! Although I am feeling rather battered and bruised, I am grateful it is all done and I am safe at home.

I intend to continue doing absolutely nothing for the next week, apart from writing out the Christmas cards! I'll then take it very slowly from there.

My ep told me that he managed to fill in some gaps on the two veins which were ablated last time and also fully ablate the other two. He is also hopeful that I will have no further af issues. Of course, only time will tell whether that will be the case. Fingers crossed!

Thankfully my husband is very supportive. Now, where's that remote?

Its good to hear that all's going well Cally. There's lots of nice Christmas films to watch on tv at the moment and if you haven't watched the one 'The Holiday' which I love, it's on later today.

Hi Elli86. I had my first ablation in August last year, I was put on the waiting list for my second at the end of April.

No two people are the same, it will depend entirely on how each individual is. There are some lucky people who don't need a second ablation.

Thanks for response cally. I’m more talking about the general time it takes for your cardio/EP to decide a second ablation is needed if things are not going to plan. How long do they generally wait before making a decision.

I honestly have no idea, but mine made the decision the first time I spoke to her because she said she was only able to ablate two of the veins the first time round.

Oh right ok. As far as I know they were able to ablate all 4 of mine. Hopefully the job is done and my hearts just taking its time to recover like every other injury I get 🤞

I had my first in 2017 which did keep it at bay and made a significant difference but i started getting more severe episodes in the last 12 month so had the second. Im badly allergic to fleccanide and bisoprolol makes me feel awful so medication wasnt really a good option for me. Hope you are feeling better now.

Good Morning Elli, going well thanks, in sinus rhythm, HR 60 - 70, feeling good. So happy as Larry currently. Going to get a bit of a walk in today just to test the exercise waters.

Long story short and without being too graphic Elli, I contracted an infection whilst in the hospital, nothing to do with the hospital I hasten to add. It poleaxed me for just over a week so I didn't feel much like doing anything. All good now though. If I hadn't have got the infection I reckon that I would have been suitably placed to start mild exercise after the first week.

Good to hear that you got rid of it in the end 👍 I was out walking around 4/5 days after as well but not far at all, literally only down my road and back and at a VERY slow pace but was good to get out and about.
