I’m 3 days post ablation and all seems to be good including sinus rhythm (woop🙌🏻). However, I’m struggling with food and digestion, particularly after a meal. I’m suffering with really bad indigestion and pains in stomach and chest resulting in regurgitation and wind until it finally digests. Going to try smaller meal portions whilst healing and see if that helps.
Any one experience anything similar post ablation? Does it pass over time ?
Thanks
Andy

All fully explained in our fact sheet heartrhythmalliance.org/res.... The ablation often upsets the oesophagus and may take a couple of weeks to settle down. Lots of other useful things to read about and save you worrying.
Some people are automatically prescribed an indigestion medication to prevent problems caused by inflammation. As well as the small portions you could try Gaviscon in some form.
Hi.. no unfortunately wasn’t given anything on discharge. Spoke to the pharmacist who were reluctant to give any gaviscon or similar due to the procedure.
The usual prescription is for a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) but they have their downsides. I was told to change to ranitidine (no longer available) but there is another mild antacid widely advertised (name’s gone) which should be fine but maybe phone arrhythmia nurse for reassurance.
You need to call your cardiologist immediately to rule out any post op complications. There are a number of things that can cause what your experiencing.
