Suffering with upper back and lower back pain, think it’s the one of the latest medication for diabetes and anticoagulant.
Apixaban, metformin , Gliclazide
Not had this pain since my partial knee replacement in 2019!
Can anyone enlighten me please?

Well LaceyLady I guess there are a few things to think about here before you draw a conclusion about your medication causing your back pain. Whilst it can seem suspicious if a pain begins around the time you start a new medication, it's not always connected to that, but simply a coincidence. Maybe first think about what kind of pain it is. The majority of back pain is musculoskeletal in origin. Have you, consciously or unconsciously done something to strain your back, such as carry something heavy or done some gardening? What age are you and is there any possibility that you have developed osteoarthritis? (A friend has recently been completely immobilised by osteoarthritis of the spine which came on suddenly and has turned his life upside down). Have you checked the leaflets which come with your medications to see if back or other joint or muscle aches are already reported as side effects? If hand on heart there's no evidence anywhere after all of that, you might want to contact a medical professional for advice and guidance, but it's also an option to wait and just see what happens with your pain over the course of the next couple of weeks, before doing so.
Been suffering weeks, see John6’s reply.I’m thinking Apixaban, I did read the leaflets, rather long reading and Apixaban has a l o n g list🙄
I’ve been suffering the pain for weeks, consulted my osteopath which had a small improvement, needed a 2nd treatment but due to holiday couldn’t. The problem areas are ones I suffered before the partial replacement and completely disappeared once the op was as done. I swim and do water aquarobics 3x a week, no problem. Only if I have a slight breathlessness rarely do I tone it down. I have an appointment with the surgery’s Pharmacist tomorrow. I’m sure I’ve read some having a problem with medication.
No don’t do arthritis.
I’m 64.
Hi john6, not only considering it but a victim of it! 🙄
After 6wks taking metformin the pain hit hard knees, wrists kidneys! The came the INRs! I went to see the doctor he told me to bet blood work it came back sugar was in Canada 8.1 they have a very aggressive approach to fight diabetes. We need to be normal between 4-7 .My results were @8 for 12mos but the pain was very painful. I quit all my med for over 5 yrs no pain ,no gout , amiodarone and that blew out my thyroid that med I have to take, if not heart will race but meds will hurt you if taking them for long periods of time my meds for afib all failed. Thats my take on meds many doctors have stopped prescribing metformin !
😳Saw my cardiologist yesterday took my readings I’ve been suffering A Fib, tachycardia and it seems I’ve had atrial flutter! Heart went back to normal I think just be fore the appointment!! He was talking about changing the meds to something else before thinking of ablation. He’s referring me to an Endocrinologist, I’m already sick of diabetic meds, I’m sure it’s causing all my aches n pain, ones I’ve not had since partial knee replacement in 2019! His secretary said Metformin is a horrible drug! Had a raft of blood tests yesterday, B12, thyroid I hope and others. I wait
