ST Barts : cry oblation for Af and Ablation for AF Flutter ???

So a specialist fromSt Barts just called and said I’m perfect candidate to have cryOblation for my AF and an Ablation for my Flutter . I go in in 6 weeks ( bloody quick ) .

I’m going to be awake for the procedure 😬

He was very confident it will be a success as I’m only 50 and have no other issues and my echo showed a perfect heart in terms of structure .

Any advice or anyone had both these procedures in same day ??

You appear to be drawing a distinction between Cryo ablation and 'ablation'; I'm fairly sure you will have a single procedure using the freezing technique to address both/all of your arrythmias. As we always say on here though; I'm not a physician and you may wish to clarify this with your arrythmia nurse or Cardiologist just in the interests of being fully informed.

I have had both but a month apart as I did not have flutter when I had my afib cryo ablation. Flutter started 9 days after the cryo, probably promoted by the flecainide I was still taking. My EP said if there had been flutter present when he did the cryo he would have done both at the same time. Flutter is usually ( not always) in the right atria, but the normal route to the left atria is via the right atria. The ablation for the flutter will be RF, as the cryo is only used for the pulmonary vein isolation of the left atria so far as I am aware.

Not medically trained just my personal experience

Best wishes and excellent to know that the waiting lists are so short now!

Yes, all in one procedure but had RF ablation, cryo is only for AF.
