Effect of the Pfizer vaccine

I hope I am not breaking any rules asking questions about the vaccine.

But ... I have had nasty horrible asthma / sinus troubles for most of the year. I had my first jab at the end of July (my second this morning) ... and in the middle of August my asthma and sinus symptoms suddenly got way way better for no apparent reason.

Coincidence? Or are those anti-bodies are helping me in ways not expected?

(Ps I know there is a asthma forum, but this one is way more responsive ;)

There has been a fair bit of comment on vaccines here Jonathan but few as positive as yours so very pleased for you.

I'm no expert but do know of quite a few people (myself included) who think they may well have had covid before anybody knew about it as there was a really nasty bug which left us with a wracking cough for six or seven weeks at the back end of '19. We now know that the virus was first identified in China in 2012 when four miners died after working in a bat infested mine many hundreds of miles from where it was announced to have started.

Speculation is pointless of course but nothing is impossible.

Regardless of anything else you have obviously had a good outcome which is always good news.

My husband had this virus at Christmas 2019. He kept grumbling he could not appreciate the festive fare as his sense of smell and taste were diminished . He coughed for a fortnight and had a fever one night. I was lucky and apart from a slightly scratchy throat did not get it. The Chinese removed the entire online data base of viruses at the WIV in September 2019 with no explanation. Hmmmm

I was already suffering when we went to HRC Patients day in October 2019 and in fact left after lunch as I felt so bad. My wife came with me unusually (at my request) to help with the driving as I didn't feel up to it. Had a second bout at end of Feb 2020 but not for so long. Sam did not have it so badly and it only took a week or two but she did stop smoking and has never re started.

Men are more badly affected by acute covid than women. But interestingly women are by far more affected by long Covid. The swings and roundabouts of having a superior immune system - less acute illness greater propensity for autoimmune disease.

I'm sure it was around in Sept. Oct.2019. I live in South Africa but in mid September 2019 I went to the UK to visit family. My son did my booking for me and booked 6 weeks which I considered excessive and unfair to impose myself on my sisters for so long, so I booked a coach tour to give them some relief, the main destination being Ireland, but it included stops all over England and Scotland. It was a 40 seater coach with only 17 passengers, so as I was alone I was well 'Socially distanced' from the others who were Americans who had been between them, all over Europe, one couple having been to Russia. On the 2nd day, one person started coughing, by day 5 everyone was coughing, and throughout the 12 day trip some had to spend a day in bed. Although nobody was seriously ill, it was certainly strange how rapidly the infection spread among the tourists

My wife is pretty sure she caught it Nov. 2019 as she was really ill for months. She is asthmatic and had 3 different lots of antibiotics to try and shake it off but it never really went for maybe 5 months. She caught it off our sister Iin Law and brother in law who travelled here from their home in Johannesburg via Spain London Scotland and Northern England and Ireland - visiting relatives ending up with us travelling to Portsmouth to meet up with them at my sisters. By which time most of them had bad coughs and sort of chest infection type symptoms no sense of smell or taste so looking back we thought this could have been it.

I guess we can only speculate Jonathan_C. But wouldn't it be marvellous if that's the fortunate side-effect that you've experienced from the Pfizer vaccine! 👍

Nice to hear that you had positive effects after the first one. Just let us know how you feel after the second one.

My niece, MD working in a hospital, had her third, a week ago, and had all the imaginable bad effects, including the arrhythmia. May God be with all of you, who have taken this experimental gene therapy...

You never know.? And in time it may come to light that the vaccine does actually have other health benefits for certain people.? It’s nice to hear a positive story about the vaccine for once. Take care. Ron
