Hi all, I am new here.

My oral hygiene is good and vry rare drinker. has anyone else experienced same. also my energy levels swing, one day i can play singles tennis for two hours, another day too tired to walk a few hundred yards. Anyne else experience these swings in energy? Thanks Michael

I am also on 20mg Rivaroxaban, and have been for two years. I am in constant Afib and now in heart failure. I notice that one day I have energy and another I don't, but I try and go with the flow and just pace myself. I am aware that my breath has a smell to it, but not always. I remember when I was younger and worked as care assistant in nursing home, that residents with heart conditions often had bad breath, so I suppose it's all part of the condition(s) rather than the meds.

Maybe get your blood sugar levels checked. Never heard of this from Rivaroxaban.

Maybe change from Rivaroxaban to another DOAC; although I don't take them at present my cardiologist changed my prescription due to latest research findings, not on your issue but general safety re less bleeding risk. He gave me Edoxaban because its cheaper in Surrey but I believe Apixaban is the favourite here.

Hi secondtry, I was changed from Rivaroxaban to Edoxaban last week, because I had a TIA, and my stomach has been upset since. Did you have anything like that?

I haven't started on ACs yet. That's great you have changed as I believe it was research in the States on side effects that prompted my cardiologist to go over to Edoxaban. Hope you are back to normal soon.

Its the Afib. In my experience an sttack of afib robs us of life. If you take a portable ECG with you and check and it shows you have arrhythmia go and see an EP.I thought it was Rivaroxaban so i stopped taking it but i still got the attacks that you are getting.

I am intolerant to drugs i was tried on and my doc suggested 30mg diltiazem before bed and a 30mg if i felg an attack coming on. For a while it was every 3 hrs during the night and day.

I am unhappy with Riveroxaban as it has caused me to bleed and I'm about to change to Apixaban. I've occasionally had bad breath and also lost a fair bit of hair. What has bugged me the most is that after a 5 year af journey I turned up for my first ablation last week and was told it was cancelled as my bloods showed I was anemic. I have never been anemic in my life and this has happened after I started taking it. Having looked into this, it has a bit of a reputation for stomach bleeds. As another commenter mentioned ,it is cheaper than Apixaban which is why it's the first port of call!

That interesting......thanks. I was put on Riveroxaban but it caused loads pf bleeding from all orrifices .......bit scary!! Been off it for a year all the bleeding stopped straight away.....all the investigation they did show nothing. So Roveraxpaban is the cause. EP says if I cant tolerate them there is an op they do instead. But Ive got to try going back on them first. Not looking forward to that!! I felt sooo ill on them. I have P-Afib. Notice my Afib mainly at night.

Can’t you change to another anti coagulant? Apixaban, Dabigatran, Edoxaban? They seem to be better tolerated than Rivaroxaban.

For me, Rivaroxaban caused erosive gastritis with a gastric ulcer and I also had some bleeding.

I get severe nausea with all of the anticoagulants, including Warfarin after a few months of taking them. The plan is that I alternate between Dabigatran and Apixaban, so as soon as the nausea starts I ring the surgery for the change and so on.

Oh my that sounds a tough plan! Yes I will ask to try another. I was on Riveroxaban for nine months before bleeding started. Am not super keen to go back on them......my rating was only 2.5 but EP says risk will increase year on year......

Nor me! If only we had a crystal ball. We get scared into taking them by statistics. Who knows what will happen. I sometimes think we were better off when all these pharmaceutical products weren't available and expected less longevity. ☺️

Thanks to all of you that replied to my query and shared your experience.; it is much appreciated. In addition to the bouts of tiredness and bad breath that I mentioned which have become more pronounced recently, I am getting pains in my tummy/large intestine and suffering more from flatuence/trapped wind. Also when I remember to drink more water I seem to have more energy. Can Rivaroxaban dehydrate/cause these digestion issues?

I've permanent a fib and been on Rivaroxaban 20mg and Tildiem 60mg for 3+ years now, I'm tired and lethargic with little energy or interest and easily become out of breath too, I just put it down to the permanent irregular rhythm and possibly the medication but I can't get any further with the cardiologist especially in these strange times

Well I have flatulence badly mid afternoon and early evening. You can set the clock by it and again did not have this before the medications I'm on. I drink lots of water and it seems to help a bit but not a lot.

Hi there, Have been on 20mg Rivaroxaban daily since beginning of the year, switching from something else which I've long since forgotten!! I am diagnosed Paroxysmal AF.

I do get rare days where I feel quite energetic, today being one of them. But most days I feel a lack of energy to one degree or another.

Problem being I am also on Flecanaide, Bisoprolol and Losartan Potassium! So I couldn't say if it was specifically the Rivaroxaban.

If it is all you are taking I would say it is a good possibility.
