Bad breath

When I say bad breath I mean a really awful, foul taste in my mouth in the mornings. I can't figure out if it's a sinus problem or if it's due to medication. I take 150mgs Flecanide twice a day on an empty stomach. Apixaban AM and PM.on an empty stomach also. Could it be the Flecanide at such a high dose? I don't feel nauseous and my appetite is good. I feel fine after taking them, no problem there.

I haven't had AFib for 8 months TG so the the Felcanide is working. I also started on a mild anti depressant to help with anxiety which I think is also helping with AFib and sleep. Anybody else out there have problems with bad breath in the mornings? and if so do you know why?

Thank you in advance.

Have you been tested for H. pylori? If you have good oral hygiene & healthy gums it’s worth looking at other causes.

Thanks again CD for suggesting H Pylori. I've been investigating it and this could very well be what's going for me. It seems it can also cause AFib!! I'm going to speak with my GP about a test.

HI! I, too, suffered from bad breath for a long time. Everything I tried, from chewing gum to mouthwash, only made matters worse. My tonsils were removed when I was a teen, which did not help. The use of probiotics had no effect. I went to a nearby dental clinic and had my teeth cleaned [ milltowndental.com/diagnost... ]. My dentist also advised me to use skinny brush heads that can get between your teeth while brushing. My teeth are now so clean that they feel like silk. Even after coffee, cheese, and onions, I no longer have that odor! Every night, I brush my teeth thoroughly between them and below the gum line on each tooth. There was some bleeding at first, but my gums are now strong and healthy, and my dentist noticed and said the pockets are improving everywhere! Was because of the plaque in my teeth! I also started using the new Crest gum detoxify toothpaste, followed by a whitening mouthwash. I hope you give it a try. It worked for me.

Hi Joey Fred thanks for your reply. I’m doing all the right things with regard to dental hygiene and even consulted with my dentist. Who did a thorough examination including X-rays but says all is good with my mouth. So it’s either coming from sinuses or from my stomach. I’m treating myself as though I have GERD and also doing sinus washouts every day. I’m not too bad during the day, it’s first thing in the morning that’s so awful. Vile is the best word. I’m on a waiting list to see an ENT consultant. So god knows when I’ll get to see him/her. Very long waiting list as I’m sure is the same in England. I really appreciate you getting back to me Joey.

Best wishes from Ireland
