Hi Kalgs.

It's pretty understandable being worried - I would be too.

OK first off I'm not a medic so I can't really give advice. However (I'm sure they will know anyway) I can say this - make sure they are fully aware of your afib.

May I suggest also asking about taking the oral dye. It appears (I could be wrong) to have less affect on the heart. This is just something to ask about when you go for your MRI and not intended as medicial advice. No harm done in asking though.

Good luck tomorrow.

Paul

I have had a number of MRI scans with the injected dye. I never had any problems.

We are all different however so maybe check with the doctor who you are seeing for your investigation.

I have had several such procedures (one also for prostate cancer eleven years ago so that should cheer you up ) and never had a problem. One can feel that you pee youself but this is just how the contrast makes you feel. You haven't!

If you have a positive approach all will be well.

Thanks soMuch

I've had the CT scan with iodine contrast prior to several cardiac ablations. As they inject ... actually pump in ... the iodine you will feel a strange warmness flow throughout your body ... quite forcefully in the prostate area and genital region. Other than the strange sensation, never any issues whatsoever.

However, I took a liter bottle of water with me to drink on the way home after each scan ... and the technician told me that was a great idea to flush the contrast out of the body and kidneys.

MRI scan didn’t affect me at all, thankfully.

No worries...same procedure here... wouldn't have known what they were putting in the IV if they hadn't told me. Just fine before, during after. Easy peasy, you will be fine 🙂

I had a cardio stress test MRI earlier this year, which used the contrast medium. I had no problems with my AFib afterwards. I did experience slight soreness in my chest for a while but put this down to the drug used to stress my heart. Hope this helps.

No issues for me but good job they warned me about the peeing sensation.

I had contrast dye for an MRI test before my ablation. It caused no a-fib problems.
