Painful knees
Had bad knees long before I started warfarin many years ago and it hasn't got any better. I blame anno dominii.
Yes I do. I am just stopping warfarin and going back on to dabigatran today, mainly due to nausea, but over the next few days, I should know if the painful knees are due to warfarin.
Unfortunately, I have had intolerances to all of the anticoagulants after a few months, so I am going to be rotating them to try and avoid this.
As Warfarin hangs around I will post in about a week to let you know about my knees.
I've taken Warfarin for years and don't have any problems with my knees.
I have knee problems and on apixaban but do not see a link. Like BobD, age and bad luck. Lifestyle. Talk to a physiotherapist. Mine recommended some specific exercises and an indoor bike, low setting, 30mins most days. She said normal cycling might be too rough. Has helped a lot.
I had occasional knee problems which dramatically worsened a few months after starting apixaban and for the first time in my life struggled to get up from and down to the floor. I've only recently seen that it can be a side effect. I'd also had a tooth abscess and x2 antibiotics at the time, and thought it might be due to that somehow, but now I'm suspecting the med. *I know it isn't the same as warfarin.
only speak for myself but no problems with knees
Thanks guys for all your replies .
No, I’ve been on it for 8 years, no problems, and I home test with the coaguchek. However, everybody is different, mention it it your INR nurse. I’ve tried apixaban and other anticoagulants, and always come back to my tried and tested. Warfarin for me, every time.
