I have been put on Atorvastatin and am taking Apixoban. Reading one of the "common" side effects was haemorrhagic stroke. Is anyone taking Atorvastatin with their Apixoban and heard of this side effect?

Apixoban and Atorvastatin together
Haemorrhagic stroke is not a “common” side effect of either drug. All thinners have the potential to cause haemorrhage, particularly warfarin.
apologies I was not clear. I have no problem with Apixoban which I have been on for several years. My question was did anyone know of any adverse effects of taking Atorvastatin with the Apixoban. I had read one of the "common" side effects of Atorvastatin was haemorrhagic stroke. if that is the case i shall change the statin.
I take pravastatin and Apixaban and have been for years. I have read on here of people being worried but replies have been reassuring. If you are very worried perhaps ask your GP or EP. Best wishesPat
I have taken both for 8 years so far so good. But interested to read what you say and will follow post to see what your Dr thinks xx
The package insert on Lipitor(atorovastin) lists a 2% chance of hemmoragic stroke under side effects. Several papers were written to determine if this was increased with concomitant AC use. No meaningful conclusions were able to be made. Consult your doc, but personally I am taking apixaban and was also urged to take Lipitor because of cholesterol issues. I declined because of the unknown prevelence of bleeds with both seemed to outweigh any benefits of Lipitor.
A quick literature search suggests statins should be stopped after haemorrhagic stroke, but that they have a protective effect in primary prevention.
Hi sry for the delay in responding. I have not taken any other statin. This is not based on any particular study, but rather my own fear of a potential intracranial bleed. Best wishes...etheral
