Apixoban and bleeding

I have been on apixoban for 4 months now and have a strange worry regarding side effects ... I haven’t got any ... including the reason for this question the fact that I don’t seem to bleed or bruise more than I did before . I am 59 and except paf which I last had several months ago I think I am in ok health. This morning I cut myself shaving and thought “ uh oh” but after 20 30 seconds the bleeding stopped. I expected worse.

If this is normal I’m delighted, but as a signed up worrier about health I have the worry that it is not effective for me. Does it cause excessive bleeding in others who take it? Or does it work as an anticoagulant for everyone just without the drama of warfarin?

Very normal - I’ve been on Apixaban for 4 years and no significantly more bruising or bleeding.

neither forme. I did bruise a little with Warfarin but with Apixaban it is fine.

If people didn't use the term "blood thinner" we wouldn't have this missconception I think . You really shouldn't bleed any more that normal so relax . (I have never had any drama on warfarin over the fifteen years I have been on it by the way.)

Apparently apixaban is one of the most gentle of anti-coagulants for gastric bleeding and I have found that I don't bleed excessively. However I understand it is effective as all others. In fact if you look on google for example and compare with other a/c it comes out as one of the highest rated.

I was really really worried about this but am now a year on Apixiban and only bleed/bruise a tad more than previously.

Some years ago I was told to take a low-dose aspirin daily and bruised very very badly.

I am delighted with Apixiban overall and would counsel anyone to start it if advised to do so.
