Prolia has lots of 'red flags' associated with it.
If it's like Boniva and similar osteo drugs, it slows down the bone building process. When bone grows naturally .... it usually sheds the oldest bone at the end of the cycle to be replaced by new. However ... these prescribed drugs slow down or stop the shedding of the old (dead) bone material and leaves it in place. So when doctors xray your bones after being on these meds .... they say, "I have good news for you .... you have more bone mass."
You might have more apparent bone mass .... but the bone material is very poor .. and should have been discarded by the body anyway to make way for new cells. That's not even taking into consideration all the bad side effects associated with these 'miracle' bone meds.
Try a natural bone-building, bone health route of supplements, bone nutrition, and exercise. I think you'll be much happier with the results. Good Luck!
Thank you for reply . Yes I too understand what you are saying, as this it what i understood.
But after several years of doing all the things i could, i.e vit D3 calcium rich foods, bone loading exercises, resistance exercises, walking lots, i am still advised to have medication.
The decline in bone density flags up meds.
So trying to find my best option. Not sure prolia is it
I have Zometa infusions which is a bisphosphonate, as is Boniva. Prolia is an monoclonal antibody. Both are used for bone loss but work in different ways. I’ll know if mine has worked as have a DEXA scan next week after 3 years treatment. Glad you have joined the osteoporosis groups as you’ll get lots of information and help there. There’s also The Royal osteoporosis society, theros.org.uk which has a helpline and tons of information, booklets, info sheets etc.
I hope you find the help you need. xxx
