Vitamin C

I take 500 mg of vitamin c daily. I’m on Toprol XL. And digoxin. Have had Afib and sick sinus syncope for 18 years

Do you have a question or possibly a comment about being stuck with this kind of issue or something unusual that's working well for you?

All of us are in the same boat or rowing just downstream from you.

I stay as active as I can. Some days there’s no getting out of the chair. Others are good a few are great. I take as many vitamins or supplements that have studies behind them. Garlic coQ10 etc. I still see my EP every 6 months, my cardiologist every year and now that I was just diagnosed with diabetes, my endocrinologist every 3 months. My sick sinus syncope causes fast heartbeat so the pacemaker battery lasts 12 years instead of 5.Wish I could still swim but I live in Florida now so I can get in the pool everyday but no more 3 mile swims. Keeping busy is the key and I set myself up with research projects just to keep my mind fresh. My heart is still strong and Afib is not constant so I’m ahead of the game!

Listening to music is tough because the beats so often throw me into Afib/ Flutter storm. But I have music that was designed to get your heart into beating 60 beats per minute.... which helps immensely. I guess my advise is to try every alternative you can find. Something will help ....

Weightless by Marconi Union. On iTunes for 99 cents was designed by a music therapist in the UK.... it takes a couple of times but it works great.... I listen to it whenever I’m having a rough patch and I go to sleep with it playing in a loop. I hope it helps someone....

It's interesting what you noticed about music controlling one's heartbeat.

I've been playing drums since I was 8 years old and as a child noticed that the beat of the music and of my playing seemed to have some control over my heartbeat and vice versa. From there I realized that most of the great jazz drummers of the 1930s were dying of heart attacks. Putting these observations together scared the hell out of me! Almost quit playing. I now wonder if it's part of the reason I now have AFib.

Hope you get to a place where youI never played music but have always had close friends & my son and husband always played out “for fun”. Not sure if that contributed or not. Have been told by many EP’s that no one knows what causes it...., But the effect of music on Afib is immediate and very noticeable! Hope you get to a place where you can comfortably live with it!
