urticaria And nebivolol

Until last Wednesday I had been on nebivolol 2.5 daily and it controlled my palpitations etc. However, I developed urticaria completely “ out of the blue” . I’ve been put back on to Bisoprolol 1.25 nightly . The tiredness during the day is back and the dreaming is awful. Also having palpitations and ectopics etc. Any advice please .

Thanks. The reason they told me to take it at night was to reduce the dreams . If fact the “ half life” of the drug is quite long .

Bisoprolol gave me urticaria. My GPs did research and found that all beta blockers can cause urticaria so I no longer have one. Equally urticaria can be ideopathic, that is having no known cause, but it is a known very rare side effect of beta blockers, ( between 1 and 9 people in every 10,000 people who take them)..

I get urticaria in the winter. I have had it on both Bisoprolol and Nebivolol. Has your urticaria gone away since changing betablocker? If not you would be better off on the Nebivolol . It might be nothing to do with the betablocker.

Thanks . It’s gone but the nebivolol was much better than Bisoprolol

Hello kAlgs, sorry to hear this! Sounds miserable . I had urticaria long before beta blockers and it went as it came ( overnight) , i take bisoprolol in the morning. Initially had vivid dreams and some other side effects .. it takes a while but you get used to it .. hope this helps a little

Hello Kalgs 😊 3 years ago when first prescribed medication for P-AF (Apixaban and Nebivolol ) after a a couple of weeks of taking it I developed urticaria on my chest, back and shoulders. My GP said it was unlikely to have been caused by medication.

It was summer time and the heat seemed to make it worse. I had the rash for weeks, tried an antihistamine and cool showers but the only thing that really helped was a large cold gel icepack I bought on amazon wrapped in a tea towel and applied to the rash.

It went away on its own.

I have read elsewhere that Nebivolol can occasionally cause a rash , I stuck it out because I felt lucky to be prescribed Nebivolol as a BB in the first place when so many people get Bisoprolol which seems to have debilitating side effects for many.
