Rectogesic is it Saint or Sinner.

Currently prescribed rectogesic for anal fissure but when applied gives rotten headache and feels like my ass is on fire.. Reminds me of the Johnny Cash song Ring of Fire.. 6 weeks since problem began.. Have had them previously in my cricketing days as an opening bowler from the strain during delivery. Now its a case of a different type of delivery and a dose of pain which seems worse after applying rectogesic.. Calms down after a few hours but then the cycle begins again after BM..

I have been using Anusol but that again seems to irritate the fissure.. It seems better when I shower after BM and do nothing regarding oinments.

Any thought people or similar experiences.

I don't know that what I had was a fissure but having a BM was extremely painful, often accompanied by a fair amount of blood. This happened when I didn't follow my normal diet, and I became severely constipated (it also happens when I fly). It was relieved by going back to my normal diet that includes whole porridge oats, chia seeds, dark red fruit and lots of fibrous vegetables, and first thing in the morning having copious large mugs of tea. Even when we travel I carry my supplies. I do hope you get it sorted out. Good luck.
