I had an ablation for SVT 3 weeks ago and had catheters inserted both sides. one of the wounds has healed very well, no pain issues, no bruising. The other one has caused me a lot of pain.
immediately afer the ablation you lie still to help the puncture sites to heal. After a few hours I was encouraged to get up and walk about and while doing so I felt my leg getting wet, the wound had opened and blood everywhere. Quick nurse reaction stopped it but that side is very bruised, I ended up with a very painful lump near the site (haematoma). After 3 weeks lump greatly diminished, bruise going, still hurts a bit though. It took about 3 weeks for the puncture site for my AF ablation to heal as well so it has happened to me. Can't say if it is "normal" but that was my experience.
