Hi, I had a cardiac ablation on 6/8/2017. I am happy at this point to report that other than some flutters and flops the first week that immediately converted to normal sinus rhythm, the a-fib seems to be under control. However, I have been having off and on abdominal pain since I woke up from the procedure. It comes and goes and can last up to 8 hours when I experience it. The pain location varies from my stomach area down to my pelvis but always in the center of the my body. I was sent for a CAT scan last week but have yet to get the results. Has anyone else experienced abdominal pain after a cardiac ablation?

Abdominal Pain after Cardiac Ablation
It is quite possible to have some oesphageal discomfort as a result of ablation but this would not normally present as pain that far down but I do wonder if it may be vagus nerve related anyway.
Did you have a catheter ablation? For mine, they went through a vein on either side of my groin to get to my heart. These veins must go through the pelvic and stomach region to get to your heart, I think. I had mild groin and stomach muscle soreness for a few weeks. Although mine was no where near as painful or as long-lasting as your discomfort has been. I hope the scan has some answers for you.
Yes. I have had abdominal pain since my ablation 15 months ago. The Dr's have done X rays, cardiac tests etc. and no one can explain why I have this constant pain as if I have pulled muscles all the time. I'm baffled by it. It seems harmless so I just deal with it the best I can. I try to ignore it but sometimes when I breathe deeply is when it bothers me the most. It also moves from front upper abdominal to rear at same height.
I have the same abdominal pain when I breathe deeply. I am only three weeks post third ablation and never had this with my prior two. I also when drinking hot beverage can feel a warm sensation running down the right side of my chest down my side. Almost like I have a leak in my esophagus. No one can tell me what this is or if it is normal. They say it’s just inflammation and it will slowly subside.
I am about 10 weeks post ablation and have digestion problems ever since, main sympton is a dull sickly ache in the middle abdomen,i have very little appetite, canot eat more than a few mouthfuls without feeling full alot of burping especially after eating or drinking anything, doctors have been giving me IBS and GERD medications,i dont have any heartburn or acid type feeling. Not once have they mentioned my ablation procedure or even enquired as to how my AF is now, which touch wood is so far so good.I am losing weight and hope fast
High Andy , I have just had my ablation yesterday and your symptoms are exactly the same as what I have , it's sore to eat and burping a lot , I can't eat a lot as I feel full strait away , how did you get on with this ? Did it ease up after time ? I am a bit worried over mine now .
Hi Sam I agree your symptoms are just like mine,i am 4 months post ablation and still not quite right but does seem to have improved.Did you take a look at the link i posted on "the AF ablation gut study" if you download the PDF from that link it makes interesting reading, the questionaire they did at the end relates to virtually all the symptoms.Because mine has been ongoing for some time they sent me for an endoscopy and a virtual CT colonoscopy. The endoscopy showed everything normal, although have not had results of the samples that they took. Not had the results of the CT scan yet.So hopefully things will improve for you over time.Just keep a check on things in the early days,if you get severe pain or major change in blood pressure/dizziness get yourself checked out,all the best
Here is the link to the study i referred to
Hi Susan , I had my ablation yesterday and I have pain swallowing like when it hits my stomach, also a lot of burping, I no it's very early , but I hope your problems have eased off again, did you find out what it was by any chance , hope your feeling well 😊 best wishes

This report says symptoms generally do not continue beyond 6 months post ablation.
Have you found the cause?
Yes! I had a cardiac oblation one week ago and my stomach hurt so bad yesterday I almost went to the ER.
