I had CBT for another problem, not Afib related although my afib kicked in badly when the other condition got to be difficult. I do think it depends on the quality of the councellor and how empathetic they are to you as to how much they may help.On the nhs you cannot choose your councellor so if you afford it find someone you can relate to before committing to a series of sessions.
I have to be careful as magnesium pills can make my stomach sore. Someone on here recommended Magnesium Glycinate from Your Supplements (Online). I take one capsule mid breakfast and have no problems and feel they have helped.
However, magnesium can also be added to your bathwater as a powder (I used to buy in TKmax), or sprayed on the body in oil form (can be bought in H&Barrett).

Hi jilly, I had a course of CBT for anxiety with AF. She described it as general health anxiety though.
Like 10gingercats says it depends on the empathy of the councillor because AF is so different in people & how symptomatic you are.
Because her brother had AF & obviously was not very symptomatic I found she was not very empathetic.
She asked me if I knew the difference between a panic attack & an AF episode 🤦🏼♀️ I lost faith after that.
Having said that though I found some of it helpful.
I take magnesium but cannot swallow large capsules so I open the capsule & disolve it in water. Biocare Magnesium Taurate or Igennus triple complex magnesium with the 3 types of magnesium in each capsule. I cannot say if one one is any better than the other.
Hi Jilly I take magnesium taurate capsules , either Biocare or Cardiovascular Research . I don't have a problem swallowing anything and could probably gulp down a small horse.
I recently told my EP I was taking magnesium thinking he would poopoo it but he said if 𝘺𝘰𝘶
think it makes you feel better take it.
And I do, I doubled the dose recently to the recommended 2 capsules a day and am feeling so much better .
I had been having half a dose to top up on magnesium rich foods but realised during lockdown some were missing from my diet like almonds, I usually eat loads but feared for my teeth with no dentist available.
I had started to get long runs of PACs (ectopics) accompanied by breathlessness , it may be coincidence but within a week of increasing the magnesium I felt better and the PACs and breathlessness decreased.
No need for CBT relaxation techniques, a small amount of Yoga learnt online and breathing exercises help me to cope with anything daily life brings 😊
Hi there, you have probably checked that you can take magnesium with your
Medication especially blood thinners? Yes
Hi there. I take Magnesium Taurate from Biocare. 2 capsules per day. Since I started this a couple of weeks ago -after a particularly awful week of daily AF episodes- I think my AF has improved somewhat. Just had a week without any episodes.
I did CBT and it was ok. But what really helped was hypnotherapy from a qualified psychotherapist. I found her through the Anxiety UK website and the sessions started straight away. Worked wonders.
