Taurine Question

I just bought some powdered Taurine. I figured why consume more capsules than necessary each day. The instructions say to take it on an empty stomach (dissolved in water, I assume). I thought all vitamins and minerals and supplements were better absorbed with food. Anybody else taking their Taurine on an empty stomach?

I take a Taurine 1000mg capsule with food twice a day with magnesium.

It does depend on what outcome your aiming for to how you take it.

A lot of supplements are recommended to be taken on an empty stomach , some are never to be taken with food, Taurine is not one of these.

I use it for AFIB and Diabetes .

Thanks for this info and the link. My purpose for starting Taurine is also Afib.

As far as I know, it’s a free-form amino acid, so it should best be taken on an empty stomach. Even just 10-15 minutes before a meal is fine.

Yes it is recommended to take it before a meal ( but ) magnesium taurate can be taken with a meal so the timing is not critical.

AOR recommend taking additional taurine with magnesium taurate so when I started taking Mag.Taurate I took the Taurine at the same time.

Magnesium needs other stuff to latch on to, so it’s better taken with something. I guess Mag Tau is ok with any food.

Taurine is neither a vitamin nor a mineral. It is an amino acid.
