Had successful cardioversion on Wednesday aided with flecainide 100 twice a day - I am also on Apaxiban 5 twice a day and 2.5 Nebivolo twice a day / still have brain fog but was so happy to get my first NORMAL reading on the kardia ! How soon should I begin to feel much better and will the meds be reduced in time particularly flecainide- many thanks

Great news Spinbiker, you must be very pleased! It’s not easy to say what will be recommended regarded the meds because we are all different. They may suggest reducing the Flecainide to a maintenance dose of 2 x 50 mgs at some stage to help maintain sinus rhythm but only time will tell. The important thing is to take it easy and give your heart the chance to adjust to beating regularly and long may it continue.....

Thank you I had similar feelings that flecainide will be reduced eventually- I will take it easy as you suggest

Nice one Spinbiker.

My third CV was around12 months ago now and I'm still in sinus. I'm also on 100mg Flec twice a day and put the success down to that - the first two without flec didn't last long.

You adjust to it and I have no ill effects now at all. Personally I'm happy to be on Flec for the rest of my life (although I would prefer to be on no med's at all) if it keeps afib at bay.

Your cardio may reduce the dose over time or he / she may not. We are all different. If it works for you you are on the right track.

I went back in to afib during a trip abroad earlier in the year. My cardio said to take another 100 mg if it happened (300 mg a day max)*** I did and an hour later I was back in sinus (HR stayed higher for a few days after though). Flec can work wonders for some - maybe I'm one of the lucky ones - time will tell. I hope you'll find out you are too - good luck and fingers crossed for you ;-)

***only do this of course if YOUR doctor has advised you to do so. Like I say we are all different.

Thanks for the advice - are you on beta blockers and BP meds as well may I ask ? it’s early days for me and I realise my heart & body need to re- adjust

- my original problem was lethargy & lack of energy- I am hoping energy levels will be restored- best wishes & thanks to you

I had extreme fatigue- no thumping in the chest etc- flecainide controls irregular heart beat

Hi I was also put on Flecainide when cardioverted in 2007 and I've been on it ever since 100mg twice a day with Bisoprolol. It works for me and I'm happy to stay on it. Only 1 episode of AF in that time.

I'm 39, been on Flec for 6 months. I was told to have an ablation so that I then didnt need to take Felainide. However reading your post it seems even with an ablation you will probably have to take it? It's working well for me so far - 50mg twice a day.
