2nd Cardioversion

Been off radar for few weeks so hope everyone is ok

Just come out of 2nd cardioversion in 8 weeks - first lasted 4 days then I got a chest infection and also wasn’t on Flecainide prior to it. Second one today and already on Flecainide and for the last 6 weeks I’ve been on 12.5 bisoprolol - over those last weeks I’d managed to progress from hardly getting up my own stairs or going anywhere to doing 2 miles walking at a real push - not been able to walk hardly since last summer and finally so bad in March I thought I’d had it.

Hoping that this will now stay in NSR with Flecainide 100 twice a day and downing bisoprolol to 10 a day will be it (otherwise will need more work - 2 previous ablations 2006 & 2010)

Will carry on trying to build up the exercise, also weight loss (1.5 stone since March)

Good luck everyone with your progression

Excellent news but please resist the temptation to do to much, to quickly. Those are hefty doses of medication designed to keep you in rhythm so not wishing to put a damper on things, you need to not do anything which might cause AF to return. The longer you remain in rhythm, the better chance that your ticker will remain stable….strongly suggest you enjoy a restful weekend 😉

Ok thanks they said keep mobile no heavy lifting and no stress (mind you they did say no driving for 48hrs and someone with so yes I’ll make the most of it - can’t believe the Apple Watch says NSR instead of AF or inconclusive Thanks again and enjoy your weekend 😊

I should think last night's hot weather hasn't helped over-much but what you write sounds encouraging. Has a third ablation not been mentioned? My son's colleague, still teaching part time at 76, has had five over the years and his AF has just resumed but he's coping well with it.

That’s been discussed as next step if things recur. I don’t look forward to that as the others I had severe pain and complications so fingers crossed drugs will now keep control 🤞🙏

Still good this morning

No - I don't look forward to another ablation, not at all. People that make light of them are either lucky or very stoical!! ;-)

I’ve known people who hardly had any issue at all, I had punctures of the heart leading to fluid filled pericardium and woke numerous times in pain under sedation.

Goodness - well, I had a GA and you've convinced me now never to have different!! ;-) Bad luck, eh? You went through the mill a bit, there.

Both were awful but different consultant now and it’s been agreed I’d be candidate for GA (but trying to be positive that it won’t be necessary)

Have had three ablations ( all which failed ). I have been on flecainide for seven years with metropolol . Have not had one episode since. Don't know what I would do without it

That’s brilliant - what doses do you take?

Great news, Flip !

Pls keep us updated Others may want to try same, CV with antiarrythmic drug to maintain NSR.

I must let you all know that if your skin is sore following CV I used Aloe Vera which on first application soothed immediately and the second saw it off (it had woken me up a few times in the night so get some in 😆 So yes currently 4 days since CV and still NSR despite being very stressed over other things it’s stuck - I’ve made sure I take the Flecainide and apixaban as near to 12 hourly as possible too so it doesn’t wear off
