Hi all, just a quick update. I had my first cardioversion this morning and the first zap put me into NSR. I was amazed how quick and easy it was and the hospital staff at St Thomas’ were brilliant, well done the NHS. I’m to stay on my current medication until appointment with EP to discuss. Thanks to everyone for their support and information on this forum, it was very reassuring.

First cardioversion successful!
Pleased to hear that it went well for you. I would urge you not to do anything strenuous for a few weeks and let your heart gain strength beating in it's correct mode.
I've had quite a few cardioversions and once walked up a steep hill the day after having one, went straight back into AF! My goodness wasn't I full of regret. Just thinking, no big meals for a while either.

Hurrah 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great news, but I urge you to avoid stress as much as possible.
Sudden adrenaline surges are liable to put you back into AF, my mistake was watching a football match live 😠
Now I record the match and watch it after I know the score, but family worries still cause problems occasionally.
Glass half full all the time!
Good luck
Great news!!!
Thanks, they told me I will be sent an appointment with EP to discuss any future treatment but in meantime to stay on existing medications.
Fantastic! I have had 3 successful cardioversions over 3 years - still in NSR after my 3rd last February. First kept me in NSR for 11 months - put myself back in Persistent AF by picking up a heavy box on my own! I should be having an ablation next Tuesday - Covid and local lockdown of city where hospital is allowing.
