AliveCor Kardia Amazon Scammer

Just over a week ago I posted about the Kardia being available on Amazon UK at £78.

Well it turned out it was a scam from a seller in Italy and my funds have been refunded in full by Amazon.

Is there anything off limits to these individuals..

I find that PMS Instruments excellent to deal with , very helpful, priced very reasonable

Yes, I bought mine from them, and a!blood pressure monitor. Very good company.

Absolutely disgraceful. These cheap 'copies' can kill people by giving false readings. I very much hope Amazon have booted off the seller and frozen their account.

If it sounds to good to be true it is. Better to pay a little extra and make sure you have the genuine product.

I'm pleased you received your money back.

As a former fraud investigator with a city bank I always tell people that if something looks too good to be true it probably is. Glad you got your money back.

Nothing is off limits sadly Steve and it’s good you got refunded.

Amazon is a dreadful place at the moment with scams and price gouging. I have just looked at baking powder - one bright spark is selling 100grams for £10. Even worse, people are buying it.

I lost out some years ago with credit card, I’d had defective inter ocular lens implants, tried to get £6k back, sadly it only works for the account holder as long as they benefit from the product. So now husband helped me get my own credit cards and anything expensive I want, I use my card. So beware!!

The problem of losing out on having a guarantee with the credit card was because I was only a signatory on his account, which meant I had no cover nor would I for anything I’d bought. Not unusual for for women to be a signatory on husbands credit card or bank account unless the account was first set up as a full joint account.

You raise an interesting point LaceyLady. My wife has a personalised version of each of my credit cards, which is a service they all seem to offer. I wonder now if she has the protection that I have? I always assumed so, (Assume - u between me and an ass).

She won’t. My husband worked in banking industry most of his life and didn’t realise. Get her her own cards, he also did it because if anything happened to him I, had cards to use, we’re as sudo joint will be frozen. It’s nigh on impossible for women to get a credit score if you don’t have independent income and no credit cards in your name!

I purchased mine from Amazon 2 weeks ago and made sure I used Amazon direct and not an associated seller, you can't go wrong with using Amazon direct, I have used them 1000's of times since 2005. I find ebay has more scammers but if you pay using Paypal you are 100% protected. I simply love the Kardia and got it at the right time as I sadly have slipped back into AF after two ablations but managed to capture the episode on the Kardia and able to send it to my consultant who has now said I need a third ablation.

Sadly there are many very professionally set up businesses whose only objective is to defraud the public.

I once saw a program where some very clever computer nerds hacked a camera in one of these businesses. It showed a very busy office in India full of people on computers and phones whose only business was fraud, the owner of this business had become extremely wealthy and saw nothing wrong in what he was doing.

I make a point of never buying anything from Amazon and we chose to buy mine elsewhere, probably from the PMS guys who were very helpful with a follow up problem.
