I am taking .. Fostair inhaler, losartan potassium, bumetanide, amniodorone , warfarin. Since starting the amniodorone, prescribed by a registrar in my GPs, I have had swollen feet. It was given to bring my blood pressure down. Would it be o.k. to cut the dosage in half and see if that helps.
I don't want to bother the GP at this busy time.
The Am one should read Amlodopine. Brain not in gear with all the isolation.
I have not hear of amiodarone being used for blood pressure. Are you sure it isn't amlodopine which is a calcium channel blocker and often causes swelling of ankles and feet.?
I any event we should not advise that you adjust the dose of any drug without speaking to your doctor.
Do call your GP surgery. As it is Sunday I would ring them first thing tomorrow though I don't think there would be much harm in cutting the dose - what dose are you on? In the mean time when you are sitting down raise your feet on a foot stool and it may be worth lifting the end of your bed so that your feet are higher when sleeping - if you can't do this then maybe placing a pillow under your feet when you are in bed will help. I have only taken amiodorone for about 3 months just before and after my second cardioversion. My daughter-in-law (who lives in the USA) a cardio intensive care nurse calls it one of the dirtiest drugs around. Some people though get few side effects and can tolerate the drug long term. At the end of my 3 months on it I had a blood test which showed that my thyroid count had changed so even if they had not planned to take me off the drug then they would have just because of that. Within 3 months of coming off it thyroid was back to normal. Definitely check this out with your GP.
Amlodipine is the one giving you oedema. If you are 65 or older you should not take more than 5mg pd.
My BP was 120/75 so I took it upon myself to stop taking them. I do not suggest you stop on your own accord as there may be a reason for taking it other than BP.
