Blood clotting/Factor V Leiden/5% of Caucasians

For those 5% of Caucasians out there who have Factor V Leiden (Heterozygous) like me, I thought I should post this link I recently spotted stoptheclot.org/wp-content/... - the clearest notes on the subject I have ever read.

I found out about this gene condition (which I generously passed on to two of my children) 20 years ago when I developed a clot in a leg vein after a 5 hour difficult car journey without a break. The good news is that this briefing includes ' ..it does not appear to increase the chances of a heart attack or stroke' but you should '...tell your health care team ..in situations where there is a greater chance of clotting (such as surgery, a leg cast, serious illness or pregnancy)'.

My cardiologist does not consider it increases my CHADS score.
