Blood clots

I have just been watching this morning where they interviewed a doctor Larisa who is working in ICU at a London hospital and she said that a lot of patients are dying from blood clots in the lung and legs and from strokes as the virus seems to be making people more predisposed to them and that its the big killer there she also said they are now doing a lot of research into it to finding out why this is happening keep taking the anticoagulants folks

I will stop over my dead body. Another thought for the day, what if you have an ICD or pacemaker?

Yes my concern is exactly that as I have a PM but have seen no mention of the risks

Stay well

Why do you ask about icd and pm Bob ?

Just an enquiring mind. I know that medics need access to special instuments to turn such things off in the event of unsutainable life which is relevant at this time.

Not something I have thought about, now I'm wondering if my husbands pm was switched off before he died, I will be even more angry if it was !

I think switch off is determined by determination of brain death to be honest.

As far as I'm aware there is no point/advantage in turning a pm off but if they are going to do it then relatives should be asked/told.

Here in the US, doctors have also seen this phenomenon. One specific doctor realized that anti-coagulants has some little benefit but because it is so pervasive in the lung that he reasoned that a blood clot buster drug was the answer. He gave it to a patient that was about to die, all other options had been implemented. The patient survived! Within hours he made a tremendous improvement.

Thanks for posting. Maybe the fact that you don't have the energy to do any exercise when you get the Virus is a contributory factor to the blood clots and strokes. I know if I am hospitalised I will be requesting Heparin as I had that before when I had a blood clot in the leg from a 5 hour car journey without a break.
