Hi folks I was scheduled for cardio version this morning it was cancelled the it was back on so there i was sitting in my gown prepped for procedure and its cancelled last minute literally but its not all bad going on Amiodorone so as to give cardio version a better chance of working and staying in sinus I was told there would be some bumps along the way here,s the first but can,t be helped so hey ho regards
CARDIO VERSION CANCELLED: Hi folks I... - Atrial Fibrillati...
CARDIO VERSION CANCELLED
Disappointing when you get so close.......hope you feel OK
thanks my full picture is I,m not feeling anything from my AF when at rest its only when I push it my CHF kicks in and i tire quickly EF is only 27% and right side impairment as well docs think I need 3 months on meds so CV has better chance of success and on meds for 1yr after to help stay NSR thats the theory of mine also meds will have a chance to build with excercise heart wall strength
Forgive the pun, but it sounds as though they’ve got their finger on your pulse. Provided the CV gets you back into sinus rhythm, even for a relatively short time, it indicates that you are more likely to respond well to ablation treatment, even though you may need 2 or 3 attempts. Let’s hope they can find another slot for you soon even though the NHS is facing challenging times for a while.......
Thanks again its good to have dialogue with people who understand not just the physical but also the mental side of these conditions people try to understand but they don,t really know unless they,ve been in as serious a position its a tricky balance to manage at the same time as you don,t want to seem all doom .
Hi I also have AF but I am lucky I am on Warfin the rest of my life I have been told I will need surgery. But there is a bigger need out there and they have priority So a big Thankyou to our wonderful N H S
Hello Jim, yes, I think a lot of us will have to wait a while for treatment this year, but if you going to have an ablation, it’s more of a procedure than an operation. No scalpel’s and no stitches up the chest! If you take a look the Pinned Posts to the right of this page headed “Useful links for Newbies and Oldies” you will find easy access to lots of information about AF and treatments which you might find helpful.......
I never got to my first CV either as I went back into NSR naturally while on meds, but only for a while. NSR could only last from a few hours to indefinitely. Ablation was the answer for me when too many events happened too close together and the meds were not really working. Once I was in ER and on the table within 1 second of the Dr. with his finger on the button and I came back to NSR. Funny now.
Hi also like to add my AF only showed it self through my heart failure and still to this day I have no sense I,ve got it HR 60bpm blood pressure good the problem they think with me was heart out of sync and its weakened the rest of the heart thats the thinking behind my story
You must have been rather disappointed to say the least . I have had DCV's in the past but have also been corrected three times by Amiodrone so maybe that treatment might spring a positive surprise. Either way wishing you well. Best wishes Max
My EP said that Amioderone was to maintain SR. It does not put you back in SR.
Very disappointing. However it will allow your med's to build up in your system. Good luck when you have it.
Paul
Been taking Amiodarone for 4 weeks and then the blood test showed that my Thyroid level was low and my Renal numbers were low. Just done another Blood test will find out of if the meds are doing any damage. Got my Echo next month, no date yet for cardioversion.
Hi thanks for the feedback ANP told me Ididn,t need a blood test so I will ask the question every wee bit info helps regards Stephen good luck with your CV
Disappointing. I was booked in for cardioversion for New Year's Eve and had it cancelled, then cancelled twice more before it was finally done 2 weeks later at a special extra clinic arranged on a Sunday. Still in rhythm so far ..... Hope for you that you are able to get yours fitted in soon, despite everything.
You do not state whether this would have been your first cardioversion , and how long you have been persistent. I am not knowledgeable enough to know if Amiodarone can also put you back into sinus rhythm or only maintain sinus rhythm. But, it is an anti-arrhythmic drug and anti-arrhythmic drugs are used for chemical cardioversions.
In my case, Amiodarone, did not work as a chemical cardioversion both after my first ablation and after my second to maintain sinus rhythm. I believe it kept me in arrhythmia because as soon as I stopped it after my second ablation and went on Flecainide combined with Dilitazem ( via my electrophysiologist , NOT the one time visit cardiologist), I was in sinus rhythm longer than an electrical cardioversion I had previously had. I went on to a third ablation and I am in sinus rhythm 10 months now.
I had one electrical cardioversion pre my first cardioversion which lasted only three days. I compliment your electrophysiologist for prescribing an anti-arrhythmic drug in the hopes that your cardioversion will work better. I had an incompetent , arrogant cardiologist who knew little about atrial fibrillation and who did not bother to put me on an anti-arrhythmic drug before electrical cardioversion. My best that you stay in sinus.
i meant to say I had one electrical cardioversion pre my first ablation. I was not on Amiodarone before this cardioversion that lasted only three days. Hope yours lasts a long time.
