I'm having a Cardio Version early in the morning and I know what to expect. However, what happens afterwards. Do I need to rest, will I be excused dusting duties? Or do I just carry on as usual. Thanks

After Cardio Version
I am personally excusing you from dusting duties Typically you just feel great, but maybe a little tired. You've been without liquids for a while so re-hydrate, take it easy and most of all, enjoy the feeling of NSR.
You need to rest and do no dusting for the next year. Seriously drink plenty and rest for a day or so as you will be knocked out. No driving for at least 24 hours as you will have an anaesthetic.
You are very likely to feel a bit ' wiped out ' but should be feeling fine after about 24 hrs I always feel very tired after mine but soon pick up after rehydration and a good night's sleep.
Sandra
I was told minimum of 48 hours rest and minimum of 48 hours no driving.
Thanks PeterWh . feeling nervous and positive.
Let me know how it went. I'm booked in for one in just under two weeks time
Stucoo . Will do.
Hi Stucoo . Complete success on only one defib. Only thing I felt uncomfortable with was the fairy juice. I didn't think I felt particularly unwell before but I must have got used to it because, oh boy,do I feel good now! I will be taking good care of my good fortune. Good luck, I hope it's the same for you.
Excellent news. How long did you have to stay in hospital for? I hope you stay in normal rhythm for a long time and that I will be joining you in that 'feel good' feeling.
As a veteran of more than a dozen cardioversions I can tell you that afterwards, assuming it has had the desired effect, as a result of the blood pumping properly through your veins you should feel so much better. Because you will have had an anaesthetic you will naturally feel very relaxed so I would strongly recommend that you take it easy for a few days and only return to light dusting duties when you are once again your old self.
I've had six so far always feel a bit wiped out for a day or two but otherwise. As long as you are in NSR fine
From my experience I think plenty of rest is called for for a few weeks. Your body will be repairing itself and healing, and rest is best for this. Listen to your body and don't push yourself too much. I hope all goes well.
My wife drove me to a park where we had sandwiches, then I raced her up the hill and won! (This was all the while watching I was not overdoing it ie could I hold a conversation without being breathless). It was a nice sunny winter day, and the walk felt sooo good.
I had to keep telling myself to take it easy. I was so excited that I didn't have to stop whilst going upstairs, due to being breathless. good luck
