LBC radio just interviewed the transport minister today who says a) they can’t police over 70’s being out of their house b) going out for a walk especially to walk the dog is not going to be stopped - to which the presenter asked - ‘Does that mean to go for a walk every 70 year old will need a dog to go out for a walk?’

Please can we start a dog share programme? 😄

Yes deffo. My dog has been a therapy dog for me as I wasn’t going out three years ago. He gave me that confidence. It’s my daughters dog and granddaughter. She said ... mum we are getting a puppy. Guess what you are walking him. He has been at my house more. He is staying here for a few weeks. Yay. He got me out. Gave me confidence and helps with my AF. He calms me. Yay for dogs. Sorry I’m going on again.

Excellent - you do not go on. We need to support each other during these times especially.

We go for a long walk down a lane that leads to the town from our house and turn back at the end. I am 76 my wife is not over 70 but has 3 chronic lung conditions so we are trying to be sensible about staying away from other people. So far in two days we have only met 2 people walking their dogs on said lane which is about a mile long. Course you can walk your dog. If you feel vulnerable just stay at least a metre away from other humans but you can make as much fuss of their dogs as you want.

Bless you. Hope your wife is ok and enjoying her walks. We had a good run with the balls. Well he ran I walked. Feeling happier now.

Hi sotolol - I walk my girl each morning in the fields as it’s good for her and good for me.

My understanding is that the advice is to voluntarily cut off contact with others even though we are symptomless. I think that is a different matter from self isolation in people who have symptoms.

We’re in for a long haul. Enjoy your walks.

Just listening to Grant Shapps on the Today programme and to clarify a couple of points which will probably be stated in the daily press conference later....

The elderly and vulnerable will at some stage be 'asked ' to limit contact with people for their own welfare not 'told',

They will still be able to go out for walks etc and I guess will be advised to take sensible measures like hand washing.

I don't wish to sound bossy but I belong to other forums and there is so much silly speculation and rumours masquerading as 'facts' some of it coming from 'minor media' and it really isn't helpful and causes unnecessary anxiety.

The advice to listen to is that coming directly from the government and their spokesmen or the offocial sites .

You aren’t bossy. They are facts. We/I ... need to hear them. Thank you for replying doodle68.👍🏻

The term "lockdown" does seem to be coined a lot.. and "isolation" just adds to the worry that it'll be sitting at home doors and windows locked and not seeing the outside world.

What it in reality means, is limiting social interaction... avoiding other members of the general public, not going into public spaces...

I think walking, dog or otherwise, by yourself... gardening... working in a quiet plot on the allotment... sitting by a river fishing...going out bird watching on your own and ignoring everyone.,.. are common sense social distancing activities which will be OK to do without being "locked down."

But you probably shouldn't go to bingo, the post office, the library, Waitrose or garden centres.

(Please note the mass-generalised and ill informed activies above that I'm trying to imagine the over 70s doing :D )

Garden centres? Just a few minutes ago I was thinking they would be ok as long as you keep a good distance from other browsers in the perennial section. On the other hand, can't go to the one that does a good carvery as Mr Buff will grumble about not being allowed 🙄

😁 You missed out Tai chi, yoga, Zumba etc as well as craft groups, U3A meetings, church activities (no Messy Church 😭), voluntary activities such as Food Bank (mostly run by over 70s including Mr Buff 84 who transports food from supermarket).......Come to think of it, this is when the government discovers how much essential work is done by the 'elderly'.

Agree 100% I’ve done all that this morning. Also cut the grass not.

Over 70's will still need to eat! Is the government going to deliver their groceries?

Good evening. Thanks for the interesting and informative articles.

Dogs with me all my life. 25 years ago there was a Doberman. On the advice of a veterinarian, Dr. Clauder also fed meat. The dog always looked great. For a long time I didn’t see “Clauder” in the store. Now he has appeared again.

What kind of food is this? Yes, this excellent feed from this site usehachi.com/p/zignature-tr...
