So Sorry for your loss, looks a fine old chap . Lost my cavalier a few years ago it's awful , takes time , but try remember the joy and happiness he brought. Obviously a very much loved member of the family, try not let it make you ill, easier said than done I know, best wishes. Ian.

When my lab, Jenny Woolypup, died I planted a miniature conifer in her memory. It's called the Jenny Tree. It really helped at the time and it's her memorial.

Very best wishes

Losing a best friend is so hard, they are family and with us every day, loyal, trusting and giving unconditional love so keep all those wonderful memories close and remember the good times you had together and may your beautiful boy rest in eternal peace x

Sorry to hear that Wilsond. It`s heart breaking when you lose a pet. At least you know though he lead a good life and was well loved. He lived to a good age too - 87 in doggie years.

Best,

Paul

Cried like baby when I said goodbye to my old friend. Went out to the dog shelter the next day and found a new best mate, that was fifteen years ago and we are getting close to repeating the process. Take care. Stupid Dogs!!

Very sorry for you, its a hard time and they are part of the family. We lost our old lab 2 years ago, he had been ill for a while and it was a difficult time and I still miss him lots. We said we would never get another but a year later got another lab pup. We still call the new pup Ben sometimes even though she is a little girl.

You need to grieve, and cry when you feel like it, it us all part of it, remember you have lost one of the family, I am sure he had a lovely caring life, and he knew you were with him when he passed, so knew he was loved until the end. It gets easier but leaves a hole in your heart every time 😘😘

So very sorry, he looks like a lovely gentle giant. I discharged myself from hospital on the day my husband came to tell me that my dog had passed away, because I just couldn't accept that she'd gone. Luckily the cardiologist I was under was a dog lover, so understood and I went back in. Big hugs for the coming days because you'll need them! Sharon

I don’t think I have ever seen as many replies to a post here. That says so much. They are our true best friends. Mine have sat thru afib episodes with me in the middle of the night, just laying beside me, heads in my lap. Not understanding, but knowing they needed to help.

I lost my beloved Siamese cat a month ago and still cry for him every day,he was a rescue cat and we had him for 8 Christmases, I held him as he went to sleep so I know and feel your heartache, they are family members and takes a long while to recover from such love, given so freely to us. To love is also to hurt at times like this. Am thinking of you.

Dogs have always played a big part in my life so I can appreciate how sad you must be feeling.

so sorry you have lost your beautiful friend - don't know how I'll cope when I lose mine but wouldn't be without them. There is no cure to the sadness although I find I remember the happy times more now. I realise that they can never be replaced as they are all such wonderful and different characters, but I'd consider getting another dog. I didn't for years after my first pair died, but looking back on it I see it as lost time as I recognise that tying though they are, life isn't the same without a furry companion or two! Best wishes. Aw... such a shame they have to go. He looks like he had a good life. I'm a total atheist, but nevertheless I still reckon all my dogs will be waiting for me up (or down) there when my time comes. Dogs are so good, much better than people.

Hello I am new on here and saw this post. I lost my dog in November just before Christmas. It was the worst Christmas ever. We cried, cried and cried again - and still have a tear. The love from an animal is so unconditional and so very different. Its a special bond a special love. Our house is empty as he lit up every room. Rubie was 10 yrs old when he left us and like yourself I held him in my arms. He would never have left me and I wasn't about to leave him. He was my life saviour when I lost my husband and he gave me a reason to go on. I owe him so much. I think God has a time for all of us and his timing is perfect. As time goes on you will begin to realise that it was a blessing for your lovely baby and probably you. I have just been diagnosed with AF. My dog was poorly and needed a lot of looking after, which I couldn't have done now. I thank God he is at peace, that I was able to look after him and that he finished his journey with me. He would have been so stressed with someone else looking after him. He only had eyes for me. I know he is safe. Your baby is too. He will be in your heart forever. He was meant to come to you. You give them your best and God does the rest. Hope this helps.
