Afib and me do not agree on a sedentary life style. I Tried Amiodorane and soltal which produced more heart damage. Heart Fractions went from 25 to 15. The first choice of drs. for afib is amioordarone . How, can a drug that can months or years to get into your system be the first treatment of afib. Amiodrone is absorbed by the body and is present in all your tissues and bones. Yep it even can cause blindness. So, cardiazime and other calcium channel blockers may be better first choice. Be warned Dr. do not like to be questioned about their treatment. Got personnel excort out of Hosp and told medicare would not pay as I was in for observation. Yep had heqart rate in excess of 220 and not really a big problem. Dr. was wonder A___. Said that is what you get when you have a damaged heart. He is on par with that Trump dude.

Here in UK and Europe Amiodarone is the drug of last resort. Nuff said.
Hi BobD, why is it prescribe if its so dangerous?
It is generally used only when no other drugs will do and usually only for short (ie three months) periods often to assist cardioversion or aid recovery post ablation. . That is the situation here in UK and Europe anyway.
