I should have been a reporter for the New's of the World with that headline Still it might get your attention.
I read on another thread about 'LSD' and afib - may have been FJ but I can't remember for sure. However the LSD bit stuck in my mind. It's very easy to remember.
It works too.
First off it's not the drug. When I check my heart rate the first reading is always higher than the second one (maybe 5 - 10 beats a minute) because I tend to panic a little. LSD is easy to put into practise.
L = long
S = slow
D = deep
So long / slow / deep / breaths. Concentrate on that and you may find it helps. Just focus on doing that for 5 minutes and it may (may not) help to claim you down a little. The correct breathing is important for any afibbers.
It can help and is worth a try.

Ditto with blood pressure. Take it, ignore results, relax and breathe, take it again, semi ignore results, breathe slowly and think of pink clouds, take it again ... ah that’s more like it!
Crumbs Paul, I wondered what you were going to say about LSD! Thought you were going to tell us you were an addict, or about your experiences with it. Phew - sigh of relief!
Will try and remember what it stands for with relation to breathing.
I agree. That's what I do. Take an extra beta blocker. Then lie down and breathe. In through the nose and out through the mouth. It also helps to visualise grounding yourself to the earth.
It certainly got my attention and brought back memories of the one amazing magical trip I had around fifty years ago! I’ll do your breathing exercise now and hope my heart settles soon. Thank you!
Big thank you Paul, as my heart is back to normal after your brilliant suggestion ( and the flecainide might have helped too though it might not have had time to work yet!)
