This is really interesting, CDreamer, thank you.

It makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it? And actually, as you implied it your thread title, what we learn can apply for both men and women. (Even though the article focuses on women because of the increase of women having heart attacks in recent decades.)

Food for thought... Thank you!

Thank you for sharing this great article. So much of the content resonated with my own experiences! Early menopause at 43 due to illness,but no HRT offered and I wasn't aware at the time of the protective aspect of oestrogen, a pressured job,parents and in-laws ( in different locations) with years of ill health,own children's problems...etc .....

You just soldier on and get on with it but;

No wonder ' something had to give?!'

Great that there is more attention being paid to this ,and some good guidance for self help given too.

Xx

How fascinating! It certainly fits my experiences. I know two post menopausal women who both had broken heart syndrome. Both had had huge problems with their adult kids who were behaving appallingly and selfishly toward them, which led to a big row. One of them told me the Japanese call it takotsubo syndrome – when stressful events cause the heart to balloon and distort, causing it to look like a traditional fishing trap or "octapus trap".

In my case I have not had it, but I think I acquired the tendency to AF from years of stressy late shifts and deadlines and the last straw was a fraught house move and unwanted guests. The AF went persistent.

Then after my second cardioversion my daughter phoned me and unthinkingly said "I have a bone to pick with you". I thought, "Oh no!". The words were hardly out if her mouth and the AF immediately started right back up again!

Thanks for posting this helpful piece.

I think this is vastly under recognised. I also had early menapause at 36 and again no HRT offered.

Yes exactly. All my problems started post-menopause at age 55. But would not have wanted HRT as I had breast cancer. Not good for me.
