Hi ,have had my yearly meds review ,Doctor tried to change me from Apixaban to something else, they have tried to do the same with others on Apixaban.

Anyone know why ? Is it cost? Had to argue to stay on it ,I tolerate it well ,started with Riveroxaban could not get on with it so know I can't take that one .Anyone know why they would want to change meds ?

Yes. It is likely to be cost.Edoxaban is one of those that is much cheaper and numerous people here has said they have been asked(or made) to change to this med.I do well on Apixaban and i think i will be 'kicking up a bit of a stink' if my GP wants to change me over to something else.

My first thought was, given the possibility that we'll leave the EU without a deal, meds from there will be more expensive. However, Apixban is manufactured by Bristol-Myers Squibb, New York. Perhaps they'll add dearer tariffs after Brexit...or it will be more difficult for us to get them? It already costs £57 a month for each of us on Apixaban. I'll take something else as long as I can tolerate it. Most of our drugs come from the EU. Here's hoping the ones us AFibbers require will still be available to us.
