Hi all, just a quick update as tomorrow will be exactly 1 year since my Cryoablation at Liverpool heart and chest hospital. Thankfully all is well now, the recovery was a bit up and down for the first 4 or 5 months but after that I no longer have any symptoms other than a few single palpatations some days.
I still take 2.5mg of bisoprolol each morning but apart from that I am medication free. I go back to hospital for a check up in a couple of weeks but if all stays as is then I will have nothing to report. I know I am lucky and I really appreciate having my life back after a miserable 2018. I was 55 on Wednesday this week and being a quiet person I don't like any fuss, but tomorrow (Saturday) I am having about 25 people to my house for a party...they think it's for my birthday but really for me it's to celebrate the contrast of 1 year ago lying on the slab in hospital scared stiff to being able to enjoy myself today π
I am always having a nosey on this forum and wish you all the best, have a great weekend... Catch you all soon, Dave.

Congratulations Dave, hope to be hearing from your body in here in another year π₯°π₯°. And Happy Birthday and anniversary.
I am 2months in Weds post ablation N free from the AF. 54 this year, so got it same age as you. I am so hoping the rest of my recovery too will be as smooth AF wise as so far.
Thank you and may your good health long continue π
Great news Dave, have a great weekend end and enjoy yourself. I don't want to be a party pooper but (you know what's coming!) be cautious with the alcohol......all the best!
Thanks Flapjack, nice to hear from you... My regime of zero alcohol and caffeine continues and always will, cannot risk undoing the good work of the NHS π Have a good weekend mate and keep well.
Happy birthday and happy ablation anniversary Dave! That means itβs 1 week tomorrow since I had ablation number 3 as it was exactly 1 week after yours and we had a lot of fun comparing notes. Thankfully since ablation number 4 five months ago Iβve been pretty good too. Enjoy your party! πππ
Congratulations- great to hear that you are af free - gives me hope - in 2 months in and hoping for the best - have a wonderful party - it does make us appreciate being well
A brilliant read for first thing on a Saturday morning very uplifting; I had mine done 3 months ago and hope I'm in your position in a further 9 months.Have a great party.
Thatβs good new djgatekeeper, ayear gone and good horizons. Iβm following you behind, eight months gone......it is as you say a milestone to celebrate as health and normality are things we donβt think about till they are whisked away eh.....
I had my cryoablation at Liverpool heart & chest hospital 3 months ago, Dr Gupta performed it and he's amazing! I am symptom-free now and loving it. Glad for us both djbgatekeeper!
Hi twishy... Sounds like you had the same experience as me... sedation which didn't really sedate π¬... Well worth it in the end though... Take care and thanks for saying hi π
How lovely to hear that you are so well now Dave. I wish you all the best for a life free of health problems.
Please don't forget to come on this forum and give other people hope of being normal again. We need people on here who have had successful ablations to inspire others.
I'm 7 months post cryoablation and had 3 AF episodes lasting 4 hours each. first after 5 days second after 5 weeks and third after 5 months. The last was after a weeks holiday where we had a few drinks every night so I haven't had alcohol since and have been fine touch wood! It was exercise which brought mine on initially - cycling - pleased to say I'm back on the bike and did 85km last weekend which was tough going. Have to admit I felt heart a bit for a few days but not in AF just getting fit again I hope. Age 61. Have a good one.
Thanks George, sounds like you are on the right track, yes alcohol was my main trigger so not had a drink for the best part of 25 years! Still miss a beer but not prepared to take the risk after last year ... Have a good weekend mate π
Happy Birthday Dave! Have a wonderful party & yes - celebrating your successful ablation is a great reason to appreciate life as well. Hereβs to many more years AFIB free ! Missy
Thanks Lamsie, I wish you the best of luck for Monday, try not to worry as you will DEFINATELY be fine, I was worried sick but the medical professionals are awesome and will do you proud. Take care ππ
Happy ablation birthday Dave! My Cryoablation for Afib and Flutter was 2 years and 7 months ago. Just like you, I am 55 and I know I am lucky and I appreciate having my life back. I still take Flecainide (just to be safe and I am OK with that), and Xarealo and all is good
Hi, I am feeling like celebrating too - it is 10 years this month since my rf ablation at John Radcliffe in Oxford and with no drugs at all since the procedure I am still doing well (despite having let my weight creep up again after 2014 until this year) Stress sometime gives me a spell of ectopics but otherwise I still consider myself 95% cured. π
