I am new to this and so glad I have found this site for help and advice.
Had an Ablation for PAF a year ago but still getting a lot of ectopics probably more since Ablation.A few days ago had a run of about 8 thumping hard heartbeats as if I was going into AF,this stopped as quick as it started I haven't had runs of thumping heartbeats since a few weeks after procedure I am getting a bit concerned that perhaps the Ablation is starting to fail.Has anyone else experienced this, especially at this late stage? I am not on any medication as I have a chads-vasc score of 1,based on being female.
Thanks

Ectopics like this are very common for us ablatees . There is a very good breathing exercise which usually helps. Search ectopic / breathing at top right and find some useful posts.
Yep I too, have experienced the few fast beats in a run like that since an ablation in April 2016. Not often, and usually when lying down when very tired for some reason. First time it happened ivy the time they started , they stopped before I had time to panic... Also get periods of ectopic so when lying down sometimes, think maybe we are also just highly tuned into our hearts and their activities while others without AF are not so!
Let's keep our fingers crossed and stay AF free! Good luck and don't worry too much
I had my ablation for PAF in Nov 2016. I had lots of ectopics especially in the first year. I was never sure if these were anxiety related i.e. worrying the AF would return or just my heart settling down. Luckily I don't get many now an am able to exercise pretty much as I used to which for me helped with the anxiety so a win win. Give it time I am sure it will settle down I also found Yoga a great help for mind and body.
Yes this is very common after any heart op. I had these after my angiogram, heart bypass and ablation. They do settle down eventually but never go away.
But they're not harmful in most cases so don't worry. If this is your only problem post-ablation then I'm sure your QoL is much better and hence it was a success.
Have you tried taking magnesium? I'm sure people here have found that their ectopics decreased in frequency and strength as a result. Search on here (box at the top right of the screen) for full details.
Hi new here. I had an ablation 03/29/17. Came home the next day and right back because having 125 hr and wasn’t leaving. Put on an iv drip of diltiazem to lower and amiorderone Stayed for three days. Rate went down but went home in afib Expect that was part of the blanking time. This was my second ablation. 1 sr one 9 years ago after my first episode. Did pretty good for about 6 years. Short episodes. No meds. Then a couple years ago it came back with a vengeance I was in afib for three months straight before this ablation. I now am on 100 mgs of Amio. Which scares me. Haven’t been in afib since about a month after ablation. My real issue is I get tachycardia frequently. Usually only 106-112 bpm. Lasting for less than an hour recently. Sometimes short runs off and on all day and night. I haven’t had this for about a week. For a while it was happening every day. Has this happened to anyone. My ep said it won’t kill me and he can do another ablation or pacemaker. I don’t want a pacemaker. I’m 65. I would like to lose weight before another ablation. I really get anxious. Please. Is anyone familiar. Thank u. Sandy
