Almost 2 years after Flutter Ablation...

and woke up Wednesday morning in AF and been there since. Sent Kardia tracings to Arrythmia Nurse who confirmed definitely AF, currently on no meds and advised no need to take anticoagulant. Was told at time of Flutter Ablation that I may need AF ablation at some point in the future! See cardiologist on 19th September so looks like I’m on that merry go round again! Am wondering whether to contact GP in meantime as to her thoughts on anticoagulant! Anyone any thoughts, what would you do?

Work out your chads vasc score and act accordingly. What age are you if you don’t mind disclosing?!!

62, but score 1 for being female!

So sorry that you are in AF, can I just ask about this scoring that people need to have before they go on anticoagulant? When do they do this score?

Your GP, Cardiologist or EP should do or have done it at your initial diagnosis. You can also work your own score out clincalc.com/Cardiology/Str... and if you think you should be on an anticoagulant contact your GP for further advice.

Thank you for this

...you effectively build up points for certain criteria including age, high blood pressure and diabetes. As I understand it if you score 2 ( some think 1) or more points, the suggestion is you should be on anti coagulants. However this is then weighed against the bleed risk from being on the anti coagulants. If you search on the site here or google you will learn more...

I would certainly look further into need for anticoagulation. Good luck!

Regards anticoagulant i would check with GP to just get another opinion.

Hi Jane, I’m hoping it may yet convert back to NSR but who knows, wishful thinking I expect! Will check with GP tomorrow. Hope you’re doing ok. Jo

Glad to hear you are feeling so much better and that you managed to get to Australia, especially on your own, that in itself must have made you feel really good. Will let you know how I get on with cardiologist. Jo

Hi there, sorry about that, have you backtracked to see what you have eaten differently or done something differently to usual. I am permanently on an anticoagulant due to my age. I did think that anyone with AF was put on it anyway. See what others say but I would want to be on it. X

Yes, have looked at what I'd eaten and done in the days before and absolutely no difference so unfortunately seems like it's just one of those things. Will phone surgery today to see what GP thinks. I'm now thinking that regardless of chadsvasc score I should be just in case Cardiologist wants to try a cardioversion! If I'm not on it when I see him on 19th and he says take it, it will delay things further (I know I could be waiting a while anyway) if I'm not already on it!

Yes anything could start it off. Am seeing my specialists on the 16th re ablation. Keep in touch.

Got GP appointment at 1.30, so will see what they say. If you have an ablation will it be your first?

No second.

Hope your appointment on 16th goes well, let me know how you get on. Went to GP my Chadsvasc score doesn’t warrant her putting me on anticoagulant, but said wait and see what cardiologist says on 19th. Put me back on low dose bisoprolol to try and control rate as it’s been a bit up and down today. My usual resting wen in NST is around 57-62, today it’s been 75-120 which for me is high! So it’s wait and see at cardiology appointment!

I can't answer your question, not that knowledgeable. I do have a question.

I'm thinking of getting a kardia.

Do I need to pay for subscription in order to email my "ekg" to my doctor?

jobristol profile image
jobristol in reply tokathie659

No, you won't need a subscription. You will be able to save the ECG on your phone, if it's an Apple, you'll save it to your files. Not too sure about on an Android but there should be the equivalent on that. Once saved on phone you'll then be able to email it.

Thank you. I've received answers saying yes and those saying no. I'm voi g to go e it a try

You can even email an ECG from the Kardia app itself!

Not what you're looking for?
