I haven’t posted here for a long time, everything went well after my ablation in Feb 2019. COVID came and I was fortunate enough to remain clear and can’t remember having a cold since then. This week I started off with a sore throat and coughing and sneezing and AF has reared its ugly head again. Since the ablation I‘ve still been taking Bisoprolol and Xarelto with Flecainide as a PIP. This week is the first time I’ve taken the Flecainide. My normal resting HR up until now has been around 65 but at the moment it’s jumping from mid 70‘s to 130 and Kardia shows AF. Can the cold have triggered off AF and how long should I wait before seeing a doctor. I am presently away from home at our holiday home in Spain for 3 months.

I think any inflamation such as a virus can star AF if it feels like it. Since you have the flecainide adnd instructions for its use I don't think you need to worry about seeing anybody just yet unless you have any chest pain, difficulty breathing, fainting or dizziness. See how you go in a day or so. Obviously if your rate went sky high then go.
Sorry to hear. Before I would jump the gun I would email the ekg to your ep, to make sure it's really afib and not something else. Kardia does not always get it right. Also feel free to post the ekg here, although only Dr. Dave is a cardio and he might see it if I tag him.

Virus or chest infections always trigger my AF, very common I believe…
what is your PIP instruction? as this can usually get you back into sinus
Hope you are still taking the Flecainide 100mg as a PIP when you get the AF episodes
My dad has permanent AF doc told him if has a cold virus etc and heart rate consistently over 120 to go to doctor and get checked out.
I would do a covid test as it is well known covid throws the heart out of kilter
sorry you feel unwell, I’ve had COVID three times and it’s never triggered afib but I did get a nasty cold and that did !! Stay hydrated and rest up . Hope things settle back down again for you .
