I felt so smug....

No problems at all since the A-Flutter last August then the A-Fib in September triggered by the catheter ablation. That will teach me, woke up about 2.00am feeling odd, eventually got the Kardia out about 6.00 am and sure enough 160 bpm and in Fibrillation. So have tried for the first time the 200 mg of Flecainide as the pill in the pocket remedy. After an hour my heart rate has dropped to 120, still twice its normal pace but my cardiologist says can take up to four hours. Hope it gets sorted as due to have arthroscopies on both knees tomorrow.

Is the pill in the pocket a gradual thing or does it literally kick in back to normal rhythm like a Cardioversion?

When I used it back a few years now, I found it usually took 1- 3 hours if it was going to work but can often depend upon the dose - I took full dose 300mg as soon as it started but others seem to be prescribed a lower dose. 300mg is the maximum dose for 48 hours. Hope that all goes well for you on the knees tomorrow.

Thanks...took 200 mg at 6.30 am and by 8.00 am the Kardia showed back in the 70’s and normal sinus rhythm. First time I have had to do this since the ablation and the cardioversion so miserable on one hand but on the other really positive to know that the pill in the pocket works for me if / when the inevitable happens. Why oh why did I think I would be any different from anyone else. I was never a big drinker but have not had more than a couple of glasses of wine or a beer at any one time. Yesterday the white port and tonic (before the wine) and the coffee tequila afterwards may have played a part????

I use flecainide as a PIP and started off by taking 100mg but it took a long time to work so now I take 200mg the minute I have an episode. The same happens to me in that my heart rate slows gradually, and then I go back int NSR. Touch wood!

I have not had an episode for a while but When I did I would take 100 mg of flecainide in conjunction with 50 mg of Metroprolol And my heart would return to normal sinus rhythm within 30 min - 3 hours
