Good Morning, hope this message gives confidence to anyone waiting for an ablation. My 14 year old to be honest was a complete bag of nerves yesterday before leaving for hospital, doubting the decision to go ahead with the procedure. Needless to say my daughter was also very anxious. Well, he was taken down to Theatre at 1.25 and was back home at 9pm tucking into a pizza as he was “starving”. The procedure was a success. It was thought to be SVT but apparently was something called AVNRT. The care he had at Great Ormond Street was absolutely amazing and last night he said if he had to have it done again he certainly wouldn’t panic. Hope this helps those awaiting procedure.

Grandson’s ablation
In one so young it must have been a worrying experience for all.
He needs good rest now but please accept my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Well done to the lad. AVNRT ablation I am told by my EP has an excellent success rate. Here's to a speedy recovery and return to normal living for you all. Best wishes. X
Wonderful, encouraging post Nan, best wishes to your Grandson and the rest of your family......👍
Thanks Flapjack. I’ve seen him today full of smiles. A little sore in the groin but his recovery is amazing. It’s certainly made me feel reassured if the day comes when it’s recommended for my AF.
I have just come back home from visiting my goddaughter, aged 9 who will need an ablation. She is on flecanide and gets rather worried. Im going to show her your grandsons story if I may? Good to see his appetite was soon back! Sending best wishes ,and thank you for sharing xxx
Hi, sorry to hear about your Goddaughter and she is so young poor thing. She will be absolutely fine. This experience has really been an eye opener for me and I now think quite differently. Glad my post has helped a little.
So lovely to hear that all went well for your grandson. He's certainly an inspiration for others awaiting an ablation. Hope he stays well now.

Puts everything else into proportion when we hear of 14 and nine-year-olds having ablations; Nan1, delighted to hear your grandson is doing well, and wilsond , really hope everything goes well with your Goddaughter.
So pleased you have all got a worrying time over, and that your grandson is making such good progress. I wish him well. Best wishes, kath

How worried you must all have been and how brave of your grandson. I couldn't bear to think of any of my children or grandchildren having to go through this but delighted to hear he is doing so well. God bless to you all and knowing what young lads are like I hope he takes it slowly until his heart has fully recovered xx
Well done young one, all the very best of wishes to you. Love and hugs. Xx
From one NaN to another, I am so pleased for you and your grandson, hive him hugs from me too. I am 70 and also had an ablation in January which has been successful so far so hope he does the same. Ursula x
Thanks mine is booked for 27/8/19 good to hear ❤️
Sending you all good wishes for the 27th. Apart from getting quite tired you wouldn’t know my Grandson had the procedure two days ago.
Can I just say a massive “thank you” to all that have responded to my post. You are all so kind. What an amazing forum.
I had it done 10 years ago and was calm as best way to be , but it didn’t work then I collapsed and blacked out when I need the loo a few hours later so that wasn’t good 😩 so hopefully this time will all be a smooth procedure
Great news, thank you for sharing! He's quite an inspiration to me, I'll remember if I ever need one! And pizza & XBox afterwards, I'm all in! 😄
Hi,
A great story. I'm 63 and was worried about having an ablation. I have AVNRT and I've heard that it is one of the easier symptoms to sort out. I'm glad it went well and I hope the recovery goes equally well. Just take it easy for a while. I'm still waiting for mine.
Good to hear such positive results.
Good for him. I remember similarly being starved. But whatever they gave me to keep me sedated made me sick as a dog and I vomited up everything I'd eaten. I woke up in the middle of the procedure and they must have really dosed me. The whole procedure was pretty much painless, except for some heart pain when I woke up during the ablation. I could have easily tolerated it especially compared to how sick I was from the sedation. At least now I know what real heart pain feels like without having had any real heart damage.
My Grandson who is 6 years old had an ablation 2 weeks ago he is also doing really well.
Thanks! He is doing very well, he has wolff parkinson white syndrome hopefully the ablation has fixed it so he never has to have another one.
Thank you for your lovely story. All best wishes for the future.
