I recently started taking Rivaroxaban following an unprovoked DVT and have read that it’s potentially toxic to the liver, so regular blood tests are advised.
Anyone have an experience of suffering toxicity? How often should one have blood tests? Are GPs being responsive to requests for regular tests?
Any help much appreciated!
Best wishes...

Nice guidlines are that liver function tests should be done at three months at least and annually therafter. If your GP does not know this please refer him to NICE. Most well managed surgeries carry out annual blood tests including liver and kidney function for those of us lucky enough to be over 65 as a matter of course.
A friend of mine had raised liver enzymes but didn’t want to change - she found by changing how and when she took her tablet reversed the affect. Take with a substantial meal contains protein and fat is the recommendation - it helps the liver to metabolise the drug.
Hi Arnold you do not need weekly tests like Warfrin its a lot safer as long as you stick to the dosage given to you, the down side is unlike warfarin there is no antidote should you overdose.
