Hello Edm, I don’t know very much about it either but there does seem to be a lot of helpful and encouraging information about Hybrid Ablation on Google......certainly worth a peek!

Also if you put hybrid ablation in the search box above, you will find 11 previous threads. johnMiosh has recently given an update on his procedure.

If you read my posts on Hybrid Ablation “ Lastec1 “ from about 5 years ago, you will get some idea of this procedure

Hope it didn't put you off. The endocardial ablation needs much more recovery than a cryoablation. I had a few kardia readings of AF during the blanking period and at the time I wrote that I wouldn't recommend it unless the research showed overwhelming evidence of improvement. I do appear to have improved consistently since then and my ectopics are still reducing so I am very happy with the procedure now.

Hybrid ablations are pretty involved and a lot more complex than an ordinary ablation with a longer hospital stay. Usually they are only tried after 2 or 3 failed ablations. A combined RF and cryo ablation has an 80%+ success rate as well and is a lot less invasive.

Hi they told me because I’m in persistent AF the success is only 50% !!!

Sorry I didn't know it was persistent. Then that's probably fair enough. Best of luck.

Hi,

I’m in search of experiences with hybrid ablation, because I too will perhaps have this kind of ablation.

Especially the expercience of the pain afterwards due to that they go in the through the side of the chest.

Did you have a long recovery time afterwards?

Did you have a lot of pain or uncomfort due to the operation?

Hi had the first stage Nov 2017 and the second in march 2018 first bit wasn't nice was in quite a lot of pain after for a few days ended up being a 10 hour procedure due to other things second bit was really straight forward was back at work two weeks after both procedures and I am a mechanic lol will try and send a couple of pics from the first one but it worked after the second part for me and I have been free from ad for 14 months now
