Hybrid ablation
Hello Edm, I don’t know very much about it either but there does seem to be a lot of helpful and encouraging information about Hybrid Ablation on Google......certainly worth a peek!
Thank you flapjack !!! Is it a new procedure?? My doctor said there is a 80% chance of working !! Pretty good odds !

Also if you put hybrid ablation in the search box above, you will find 11 previous threads. johnMiosh has recently given an update on his procedure.
If you read my posts on Hybrid Ablation “ Lastec1 “ from about 5 years ago, you will get some idea of this procedure
Quite a few detailed posts from me too.
Hi john yes I did see yours !!!
Hope it didn't put you off. The endocardial ablation needs much more recovery than a cryoablation. I had a few kardia readings of AF during the blanking period and at the time I wrote that I wouldn't recommend it unless the research showed overwhelming evidence of improvement. I do appear to have improved consistently since then and my ectopics are still reducing so I am very happy with the procedure now.
Hybrid ablations are pretty involved and a lot more complex than an ordinary ablation with a longer hospital stay. Usually they are only tried after 2 or 3 failed ablations. A combined RF and cryo ablation has an 80%+ success rate as well and is a lot less invasive.
Hi had mine done in Derryford Plymouth was done in 2 stages first one was Nov 2017 not very nice to be fair procedure was done through the right side of my chest had a chest drain for a while was in hospital for a week went straight back in to af same evening had second stage done march 2018 was straight forward not painful at all done through my groin this time have been in near ever since was well worth the first bit
Hi yes they told me about Plymouth hospital doing the trials !! That’s what they told me too ! It would be 2 procedures ? Are you ok now ? Or still in AF ?
Still in nsr been nearly 12 months now is done in two stages first stage is inside and second outside the heart has to heal inbetween the two procedures my first stage was uncomfortable but did the groundwork for the second stage
Hi,
I’m in search of experiences with hybrid ablation, because I too will perhaps have this kind of ablation.
Especially the expercience of the pain afterwards due to that they go in the through the side of the chest.
Did you have a long recovery time afterwards?
Did you have a lot of pain or uncomfort due to the operation?
Hi had the first stage Nov 2017 and the second in march 2018 first bit wasn't nice was in quite a lot of pain after for a few days ended up being a 10 hour procedure due to other things second bit was really straight forward was back at work two weeks after both procedures and I am a mechanic lol will try and send a couple of pics from the first one but it worked after the second part for me and I have been free from ad for 14 months now
