I'm back

Hi guys; I'm back after a break. When I was last here there was a problem with a troll who decided to follow me, so I left and erased my profile and posts. I am 72, I have exercise induced AF and I had a stoke in July 2016 that left me partially sighted (I had been advised by an EP not to take an anticoagulant as I was a bleed risk and a "gym bunny"). I've had the rare condition pulmonary toxicity secondary to dronedarone and amiodarone that took me close to death. Since I was here I've featured in a short video about AF and anticoagulation that's been circulated to clinicians in the UK and USA, written a short article for the AFA mgazine and, I'm in the current Health Unlocked Beyond The Clinic on Facebook and Instagram. I have a Concept 2 indoor rowing machine and I've clocked over 700km, I'm in a walking group, Secretary of a nature conservation group (lots of physical and admin. work) and, a trustee of a community charity.

Hi Hoski and thank you for your kind words. The article for AFA was in AFA Today issue 17, Spring 2018, pages 24 and 25 (I'll see if I can post a .pdf attachment separately). The HealthUnlocked Beyond The Clinic article is on Facebook business.facebook.com/healt.... Back in September 2017, Trudie Lobban was going to ask the video production and pharmaceutical companies whether the video could be moved to the public domain, but I don't know the outcome.

Hello john-boy and welcome back. Fortunately, things have moved on since those dark days and the forum seems to be doing quite well and we are all hoping it stays that way. It sounds as if you have been pretty busy and productive during your time away so looking forward to reading and benefitting from your experiences. Wishing you continued good fortune

Thank you Flapjack. One thing that I didn't add was that I am also a mystery patient for second year medical students and that gives me an insight into medical education. It concerns me that on the last session, none of the students had heard of the FAST symptoms of a stroke. These forums are useful to share our experiences that will hopefully be read by clinicians.
