Hey to all , I 4 weeks to the day post ablation. I have terrible bouts of trying to catch a deep breath at times , has anyone had these symptoms see to be in a somewhat normal sinus rhythm?

You could be going into atrial fibrillation which is a common side affect after an ablation. I get them occasionally. My cardiologist said that they come for about 3 months after the procedure.

Yes. I had terrible bouts of SOB while in NSR. They didn’t resolve fully until I was 9 months post-op. Sometimes I could work out with no problems, other times I almos had to stop half way up the stairs just to catch my breath.

Your pulmonary vessels have been burned through several layers. Scar tissue, inflammation and muscle spasm are usually the culprits and eventually will go away, assuming nothing else is wrong.

This was very bothersome for me. I’m 11 months post op and have no issues with it now.

Try and be patient and see your GPif you have fevers or SOB at rest.

Hi. I’m two weeks post ablation and I get what feels like an ectopic beat which makes me stop and immediately cough....my ablation was for Svt. I hope you are feeling better soon and all this self resolves for you

Thanks that’s is good to know. Was your shortness of breath constant or would it come in go? Did you have other test done to rule out other problems? Thanks for help

What other test would you recommend ? Have been scheduled for another ablation and am worried breathing would become worst? Short of time but have atrial flutter’s I’m experiencing are pretty long bouts.

Thanks for help

Is it pain that stops you taking a deep breath? How frequent are the bouts, how long do they last and are they related to posture?

I am 4 weeks post ablation, and yes I have shortness of breath and also rapid heart rate that does settle down. They say it is all very normal post a ablation. Try doing some deep breathing for 5 minutes. It seems to help settle things down.

Thanks for reply, yes it’s fustrating and they want me to go in for another ablation for an atrial flutter I developed in a few days . Concerned because of breathing , but arial flutter is pretty long occurrence for me , did you have any symptoms of constant burping . On Zantac and Pantoprazole but don’t seem to help to much/ trying to stay positive though

They fixed my atrial flutter during my ablation. So I had 2 procedures done at the same time. I did have burping before my procedure, but that seems to have cleared up.
